Favourite Gin, Vodka, Rum and Whiskey?

not much of a gin drinker tbh, the bombay stuff is alright s'pose
vodka - had some falvoured stuff that was alright
rum, don't drink
whiskey - too many to mention but i will mention a few anyway, laphroaig, glenmorangie, and jim beam and jack daniels:)

Gin: pretty much any reasonable quality one. Probably Bombay Saphire if pushed.

Vodka: Not fussed. Only drink it with a mixer and I can't tell the difference.

Rum: Only ever drink it drowned with cola and only then when there's nothing else to drink.

Whisky: <puke>

gin: bombay sapphire
vodka: absolut
rum: pure cane rum from the carribean (monique or st.lucia do good shit)
whiskey: out of the commercial average ones i can remember im partial to glenmorangie

gin: not tastes horrible
vodka: nope i dont like drinking nail polish remover thanks
rum: only had some havana stuff, it was nice but cant remember what itwas called

whisky: where do i start.......Talisker, oban, glenvlient, lagavulin andplenty more where they came from, toooo many to pick from ;)

What is this Hendricks gin of which you speak ? I have never sampled it. I would heartily recommed Blackwoods Gin - made with juniper and a few interesting other things - it calls itself a botanical jin and its delicious.

Demerara rum, fresh from homeland Guyana, beats Havana Club everytime. Try XM 5 year old (the 10 and 15 year olds are a little too much for me) or El Dorado ......

No rum in the house, haven't had a drink for a week, might have to pop round the corner to Jerry's Offie in a minute to try one of these.

Gin - Plymouth, obviously, as I'm from Plymouth and just walk down to the distillery and get it.

Vodka - Stolychnaya, as it's lovely premium vodka and was my first grown-up spirit of choice. Happy, if somewhat blurred memories.

Rum - I prefer dark rum, personally. Something like Morgan's will do for me in the rum department.

Whiskey - I've always favoured Irish whiskey over Scotch, and I drink regular Jameson's as a normal tipple while opting for a bottle of Bushmills 10 year Old Single Malt for special occasions.

Incidentally, if a Brazilian EVER offers to make you a glass of 'Capeta' decline gracefully. It's a mixture of bottleg Brazilian tequila, vodka and Guarana and is quite the most lethal substance I've ever imbibed. It make traditional homebrewed farmhouse scrumpy look like shandy in the lethality stakes, and that's saying something.

Nice work indeed - I'm a bit of Banks loyalist, but it's difficult to quibble with a rum that's cleaned up awards as often as El Dorado. How much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking?

Any sign of XM in there as well. Found a place online, but a shop nearby would be very tempting.

The El Dorado was £40. I asked what Banks & El Dorado they had and they reeled off a list of at least six types ranging from £20 to £260 a bottle, so reckon they'll have what you're after. Would love to taste that £260 bottle.

That's a good price mate, with no massive premium over internet prices. Considering that El Dorado once won the (Wray & Nephew award) best rum category four times in a row and tonnes of other accolades it's actually never taken the piss when it comes to price. It's a great luxury rum. You'll have to remind me where Jerry's is to be sure, but that's a tempting local option.

Gawd only knows what the £260 and more bottles taste like. I've had a few glasses of the single estate/barrel variant, but that's less than half the price. Tasted great, but I'd be more than happy with XM 5 year old as an everyday rum, El Dorado or XM Royal as the sipping specials. Too rich for my blood - I've happy memories of picking up this stuff by the crate in Guyanese rum shops for comparatively sod all.

Rum - Havana Club
Vodka - Zubrowka or Stolichnaya
Gin - Bombay Sapphire
Whisky - Glenkinchie or Balvenie Doublewood

Yes, I really enjoyed sipping two small measures of it at the start of the evening, and will keep it for that.

Gerry's is 74 Old Compton Street, Soho, W1D 4UW.

The £260 bottle must be the 25 year old El Dorado on their site at £290:

El Dorado

Ah, that Gerry's. I thought you'd discovered a little clued-up off licence near you.

One of the off licences near West Norwood train station used to sell XM and El Dorado a long while back. If only I could remember which one I stumbled into...
:(

No such luck, local offies can keep me in Cockspur and Appletons but they don't go much further. Can't get decent wine in Loughborough Junction either.

Gin - Tanqueray
Rum - Appleton's Special Reserve
Whisky - Balvennie - the older the better
Vodka - not bothered...

Mmm. Booze!

Gin-I don't really drink apart from in cocktails so have no preference really.

Rum-Havana Club, Mount Gay, whatever really apart from Bacardi. I tried some Sailor Jerry and it was gorgeous.

Vodka-I tend to buy Absolut or Smirnoff but I'll drink pretty much anything although I do get worse hangovers from cheap vodka I think.

Whisky-never drink it but I do like Jack Daniels which is bourbon isn't it?

Gin - Hendricks, but anything will do:o
Vodka - Stoly
Rum - difficult but probably Sailor Jerry....I just like rum
Whisky - urgh no thank you

Gin - lidl's finest is in my cupboard at the moment. it does the job.
Vodka - not really a vodka drinker
Rum - Cockspur, Sailor Jerry, Mount Gay
Whiskey - Bushmills Malt, Laphroaigh

Gin - Bombay Sapphire or Gordon's Sloe Gin

Rum - bleurgh.

Whisky - Laphroaig

Laphroaig%2010%201L.jpg

Wodka - Green ;)

Gin - tbh, I'm not fussy, I've never done a taste and compare test, so I'll drink whatever G&T.
Vodka - not really keen, but I've brought bottles of duty free Absolut pear and Absolut mango back for a friend who is the cocktail queen, I always bring back some random concoction when I'm passing through.
Rum - again, not really keen. I remember having some 70 proof stuff ages ago though, it was apparently the stuff that they used to dish out in the trenches in WWI before the men went over the top of the trenches. It had an effect on me like the Ready Brek kid, I sipped it and then I felt all warm inside and then felt that I was glowing orange round the edges. Good stuff.
Whisky - Laphroaig is my first preference, but I vaguely recall liking Ardbeg and Lagavulin and stuff as well, basically decent single malts.

Gin = Hendriks
Vodka = no preference, other than having a taste for that bison grass stuff
Rum = rarely drink
Whisky = Highland Park

Gin - Bombay Sapphire or Tanqueray
Vodka - Bleugh
Rum - only in ice cream or fudge
Whisky - Bleugh

all gins are basically just grain spirit infused with junipers and other botanicals :)

i like tanqueray and hendrick's.

'Whiskey' is Irish, American or Canadian. (JC, you there man?)

'Whisky' is Scottish.

My fave is probably Caol Ila.

Gin is ok but it needs something in it.

Vodka is for drunks.

I aspire to good rum.

Gin - that bombay sapphire stuff is lovely
Vodka - the one with a twig in it - zebrugga or something?
rum - angostura with diet pepsi
whisky - double jd and redbull please :)
