Burnin' Love at present.

Me too, me and Magic Sam walked down the aisle to this after our wedding ceremony.

I also really like Way Down, Suspicious Minds used to have special meaning for me and I will always love it, Devil in Disguise- I think what I'm trying to say is like Dub I can't possibly pick a favourite.

Our dad was obsessed with Elvis and we had In the ghetto, American Trilogy and I just can't help believing at his funeral. It's only the last couple of years that I can listen to these songs. I avoided Elvis completely for about 4 years.

I love Elvis but he always makes me howl.

the pub round the corner from my old house had an elvis (vegas years) tapestry hung over the dj box. i always wanted to steal it, but mrs b promised to divorce me. :(

I can't decide which is my favourite but Little Sister is the first one I bought and I've still got it.

Little sister don't you kiss me once or twice
and say it's very nice and then you run,
little sister don't you do what your big sister done.

no way i could give you one, it changes hourly. I nearly have everything he ever recorded

Really??
In that case do you have the soundtrack for GI Blues? Tis the only EP LP I ever thought was mainly decent.
If you do have it could you make me a copy please? :o

So, fav song would probably have to be You ever get one of those days(if that's what it's called) or Wooden Heart from the afore mentioned LP.
Dub can give you the correct title for the first song :)

Oh, I thought she was talking about the GI Blues track.

Yeah, the films were pretty dire, and the obvious favourites would be Jailhouse Rock, King Creole and GI Blues.

I think of some of the crap ones he did do, I probably only liked them for his leading ladies or the songs :D

I was drunk in a pub in Canning Town once. Elvis songs were playing, I was dancing as was this woman. Said to her 'don't ya love Elvis', 'yeh,' she said 'me too', smiling. So we were like dancing and then Wooden Heart came on and I slurred 'but this one's shit' and she walked off. :)

I've just found a torrent with ALL HIS FILMS IN ONE FILE.

it's on its way :)

I already did myself. Realised I'd seen almost all of them and remembered nearly all of them were crap :D

But King Creole was fuckin excellent and Elvis could have been a briliant actor - he'd have put the effort in with decent material as King Creole shows.

I already said King Creole was one of his best :p

So you did. I don't like GI blues much. I think King Creole is underrated. It should be up there with Rebel Without a Cause, Blackboard Jungle, The Wild Ones, Los Olvidados, The Day the Earth Stood Still, High Noon, M Hulot's Holiday, Johnny Guitar, On the Waterfront, Rear Window, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Vertigo, Dracula, A Bout De Souffle, in a list of great fifties films.

(and The Girl Can't Help It:D :o )

Well I think you'll find lots of women like GI Blues because he looks so handsome in his uniform :o

I was a big James Dean fan as well. Oh, Blackboard Jungle's excellent, in fact all of those are, except the ones I don't know whih are Los Olvidados, M Hulot's Holiday (although it sounds familiar) and A Bout De Souffle

In the Ghetto for me, cos when i heard it on mixed in on Chill Out by KLF after a night out raving for one of the first times, it felt like absolute heaven, a meeting of 2 worlds

Fame or Fortune, a track that I only heard on an album years ago and have never been able to find it since.

Mine too - I have the original album that it's on

But it's also on his 50 Greatest Love Songs compilation.

It's Fame & (not or) Fortune BTW

why the smiley? it's true - in one or two of his films he showed real potential, but the Colonel tied him into an endless series of shit movies. It's one of the reasons he lost his confidence..

Suspicious Minds is my favourite. I'm singing it now!

So so difficult to think of just one, but notably 'it's alright'. 'heartbreak hotel', 'blue moon' and when I'm really pissed/e'd whatever 'I just can't help believing' from Vegas (esp. the 'thangkewverymuch' bit).

That was a typo, the 'or' bit. :)

What album was it on originally? :)

My mother's favourite tune is Wooden Heart. That's in GI Blues I think. Elvis looked handsome no matter what he was wearing. Even the horrible Vegas jumpsuit thing all the impersonators insist on wearing.
