as an "escaping my awful family after christmas" treat i bought some organic blue maize tortilla chips which cost an awful lot more than that but were utterly nomtastic.

Crisps are made of potatoes. I especially hate those walkers things that are in packets that look like crisp packets but are made reconstituted SHITE.

Well yes, i would agree. and was going to ask that very question "Are we talking actual crisps actually made from potatoes? or are we talking a "snack" made from reconstitued stuff?"....but i thought, meh. i could just go with the flow for once.

ok, if i have to back it up with a REALLY real crisp, then it would be Seabrooks. without a shadow of a doubt...does that qualify now?

Are they northern? I've never seen them down here.

My favourites so far are;

Tyrrell's Sea Salt and Cider Vinegar

Kettle Mature Cheddar Cheese and Red Onion

Burt's Ready Salted can be good too, though as a small volume produced crisp they're a bit more variable than some of the others.

Somerfields Cherry Tomato and Basil

Seabrooks Sweetcorn flavoured crisps which I haven't had for 12 years but remain the best crisp I have ever eaten.

ETA: "Seabrook holds the Guinness World Record for the largest packet of crisps. It weighed 51.35kg (113lb 3oz) and hasn’t been beaten since 11th March 2004." from the seabrook website (yes, i was searching to see if you could still get sweetcorn crisps :0)
