I miss going to Berni Inns - but that's mainly because of the family eating experience than anything else.

I don't see how Pizza Express can get it wrong though. A good salad is just a good salad, with nice lettuce leaf things and yummy toppings. It's simple but nice. It's not posh, but it's just good, and would be as good in a chain restuarant as a posh french restuarant, surely?

I feel bad for the hardworking people of Bella Pasta :(

(I do not feel bad for the evil people of Nandos though)

;)

Nah, the chain will probably get in those protective atmosphere bags of prepared salad for consistency.

A posh french restaurant should be buying its own fresher leaves and assembling itself, which potentially should be better.

I love Pizza Express. It irks me that they are the subject of such vitriol. The antipasti are lovely as are the Romana pizzas. Delicious.

I don't think Quimcunx has ever had a Romana base.

La Tasca is nice, Cafe Rouge is, but pricey!

Can't usually go too wrong with any of the chain Italian places (you have to be trying to mess up pizza and pasta!) Bella Pasta is definitely OK.

I'm actually the opposite. I'll tend not to eat pasta out unless it's a different or exceptional place - it's easy enough to cook decent pasta at home, whereas the restrictions of a domestic oven mean you can't really make a top pizza.

Badly cooked pasta, particularly overcooked stuff, is grim as well. I get really annoyed with kitchens who serve up soft pasta with sloppy shedloads of sauce.

Only Pasta Hut can save us now!!!

I do agree on the pasta/pizza home cooked debate though. Pasta tends to be £5+ a time in most resturaunts and you can make a LOT of pasta (well) at home for that sort of money.

You're right, I haven't.

It's only me spouting vitriol about Pizza Express.

The pasta on the Pasta Hut advert looks like slimey cream puke with lots of peppers. It's the least appetising representation of food on tv for some time imo

Yes, even I can manage a decent pasta.

Tell em about it! It looks like a ranko Past Meal you might get in a plastic tub from Somerfield just emptied into a bowl.

And why are these skankbags sharing? Credit crunch?

Pizza Hut is only good for all you can eat pizza buffets imo.
