... but Gary Rhodes - urgggh, the way he cooks creeps me out  the way he handles the food.....fucking OCD chef! :D
Oh God, someone else sees this too. The way he touches food makes me feel ill. Something about his fingers trying to be sensuous with food. Ever seen him handle fish?
Brrrr!
Him patting four off fish? *shudder*

Love Nigella and Rick. But what, no Ken Hom? No Rusty Lee?

Rusty fucking Lee??? You're having a LARF ain't ya?!

Ken Hom was okay, nowt spesh

but I'm with you on the Rhodes thing - he actively puts me OFF food, he's that bad. Can't stand him. Hasn't he got an eating disorder or something?

Where's Nigel Slater DRINK?!?! :p

Hey look - you get the chance to do that thing with our taglines if you're quick..... :D ....no second chances!
I love his books, but don't like his presenting style - he's got a rather grating voice.

And where's Jamie Oliver?

The Hairy Bikers. Charming, modest, funny, sweet, good food, lots of enthusiasm.... Totally unprofessional in a good way.
I saw one of the shows and thought they were terrible

just a little joke there about Rusty! :D
I'll agree to differ on Ken, I love watching him cook. Gary Rhodes gently caressing fish is just pukesome.

Someone give Rusty her own travel/cooking show! Rusty does Cajun!

Nooooo

:D

Ken Hom did provide me with a foolproof recipe for eggfried rice - you wouldn't think it would be that hard to get something so simple, so right, but it was for me. thanks Ken

Who the fuck is James Martin?
He does saturday cooks on BBC1 on Saturday mornings.

Did a wonderful series on desserts recently, called Sweet Baby James (icky name). Oh and he was on Celebrity Come Dancing last year.

Ah, that explains it then - I NEVER watch telly of a Saturday morning.

Heheh, me too! Who gets up on a Saturday morning apart from responsible adults and kids?

He did Ready Steady Cook for a few years too?

Should also give a mention to Andy Oliver and Neneh Cherry- LOVED their series earlier this year. It was wonderful.

Well, I do get up, but I'm either tidying up, or reading - can't remember the last time I actually switched the telly on!

I never watch that. It annoys the shite out of me. Cooking is meant to be an enjoyable relaxing experience, not fraught! Well, not if you cook at home anyway - obviously in a professional kitchen it'll be a bit fraught :D

The telly never gets switched on in the daytime in my house

Ready Steady Cook is not a cookery programme
THANK YOU!! My boss watches it all the time, and the sad twat that he is, gets his kids to buy him stuff so he can recreate it in his own kitchen

Sad.fucking.TWAT

Wish I could say the same, but sometimes the teens have it on for music or crap cartoons.

I do occasionally, if I'm tewwibly hungover and can't focus on a book

I loved what he said when it was mentioned that he was so nasty he once made Gordon Ramsay cry - 'I didn't make him cry. He made himself cry. It was his choice to cry'

Mike Robinson does some nice and easy to follow recipes, but he is mainly on UKTV Bright Ideas, not mainstream TV.

not a great chef but interesting to watch anyways

I'm not sure if Anthony Bourdain counts. Is it a "celebrity chef"? Similarly Thomas Keller.
I think Bourdain's an anti-celebrity chef.

He gets my vote, on the strength of "Kitchen Confidential", possibly one of the best cooking-related books I've ever read, though Elizabeth David gives him a run for his money...

(Having just checked Amazon for the link to that book, I see there's several other books by him, and a DVD. Hmmm... :) )
