favorite film soundtracks.

"Ghost Dog: Way Of the Samurai", score and sound track both by the RZA are superb, ideally suited to his fascinating subtleties as a producer and exploring instrumental territory for him..

half of these aren't bloody soundtracks - Trainspotting, Reservoir Dogs, stuff like that. They're just compilations.

Indeed a fair point. But, surely a dialogue in music that plays to a film is a soundtrack, whether it is made of classical, pop hits or whatever?

- sound·track also sound track (sound'trăk') pronunciation

n.

1. The narrow strip at one side of a movie film that carries the sound recording.
2.
1. The music that accompanies a movie.
2. A commercial recording of such music.

Enter The Dragon
Aguirre, Wrath of God
Once Upon A Time In The West
The Wicker Man
Twin Peaks (ok, so it's a TV series, but it's a "soundtrack" nevertheless :p)
Lucifer Rising
Get Carter :D
The Wild Planet

Yeah.

Aguirre, Wrath of God
Once Upon A Time In The West
The Wicker Man
Get Carter

I forgot about all of those! :o

Bollywood too. I suppose I'd have thought to list some Bollywood myself, but like most people, I don't know many specific titles. Muqaddar Ka Sikandar and Dharmatma feature some fantastic music though. Up until the end of the 1970s (-before it all got a bit too polished IMO), there was some incredible stuff.

Three with similar musical themes:

Pat Garrett & Billy The Kid
The Hired Hand
Paris, Texas

All beautiful. :)

City of God, and with out wanting to sound like a twat... Koyaanisqatsi and Powaqqatsi - but you need the visuals at the same time. F'ing amazing piece of motion and sound... you just feel like a twat for watching it :o

KoyaanisqatsiImage.jpg

(and I really like Paris Texas, Raising Arizona and any 'the confessions of....' film)
