Favorite Chinese takeaway dish?

I love sweet and sour pork cantonese style and yuk sung, chilli prawns, crispy shredded beef, crispy duck, ummmm most of it really. :o

Don't like the pork or chicken balls in batter though. Ugh. :(

sweet and sour pork

stir fry garlic mixed veggies

chicken kung po style

anything szechuan

special fried rice

satay

crispy shreeded beef

all the appetisers in hot chilli sauce

I am not a fan of things in batter but I will happily eat anything from the Chinese takeaway

I am veggie, so can't always find a lot of choice at Chinese takeaways. Vegetable chow mein with cashew nuts is lush though.

And chips and sweet and sour sauce if I'm pissed :D

I hardly EVER get a takeout, but when I do, it's crispy duck and pancakes, or king prawn szechuan - which I always, without fail, get warned by the staff that it's 'very very hot you know'.

I know. That's why I'm fucking ordering it.
maybe you need to go in there more often so they know your face....when you only go twice per year they won't know you or that you like the hot king prawn szechuan :)

and this is advice coming directly from Mr. Take Away :D

Beef in black bean sauce and the hot rice...can't remember the name ....kinda orange in colour....prefer indian in any case...

I find the chinese takeaway in the UK to be far inferior to that in the US. I don't like either all that much, but the US has many more options that are actually really nice and not just booze-absorbing grease.

Actually, the best chinese takeaway I've ever had was in Montreal.

Personally I think Chinese takeaways should do a Chinese equivalent of a Thali :(
at most of the chinese take out over here they give you an option so that you can get 2 dishes in the combo (which usually comes with fried rice and egg roll). but they charge a dollar or two extra.

so instead of getting one full portion of kung pao chix you can get half kung pao and half mongolian beef ;)

Excellent. Don't know why they can't do it here, although Chinese version of Thali would be even better

Maybe, but our curry houses are better than in the US :p

Not really, actually. Indian cuisine is on the up and up over there and is usually much better. Probably not as cheap, though.

Then why does everyone moan about how crap the curry houses are over there?

I've got to say that I found a lot of chinese food in the US and Canada pretty disappointing. It's often fairly different in the main too - there's a slightly different interpretation of the cantonese menu than the Brits seem to like. I quite like trying Chinese food around the world - theyre always slightly different, like India's most popular Chinese dish, the brown-sauced Chicken Manchurian.

London's got some excellent Chinese restaurants, particularly in terms of authentic Schezwan cooking, that are as good as anywhere in the world.

Probably because you can 't get any 'invented for the UK' dishes in them such as chicken tikka masala?

I know I've been spoilt but for me theres not much to beat proper dim sum eaten in Hong Kong. Has anyone ever had the bastardised dim sum in Australian chippies - you know the Dim Sims? A very greasy, heavy deep fried ball of 'something'.
