Fave New Order song

That's odd, it's one of their more obscure numbers - it's my favourite too & when I saw the thread title I didn't think anyone else would dare to be so original, so daring, so avant-garde.

<pulls tongue out of cheek & head out of arse>
I don't think it's that obscure, in fact I'm surprised more people haven't chosen it - I think it means more to the people who are into electronic music.

Blue monday gets extended each time they re-release it doesn't it? Pundits predict that soon it'll be even longer than Peter Hooks' guitar strap.

I tell you what.

They were rubbish at glasto this year.

imvho

I agree - mediocre - but I enjoyed hearing them do "Love Will Tear Us Apart"

I saw them at Reading in about 93 - I think. And they were great.

My fave? I'll go for Temptation as it was probably the first one that I really loved by them. I thought Blue Monday was shit when it came out.

So... hard... to.... choose.... I think they really are my favourite band

but I guess ultimately for me it's Temptation

oh its the last time
oh its the last time

makes me cry when I'm pissed.

So many to choose from. <hmmm>
*thinks*
it's True Faith, but Ceremony definitely comes in very close...

Temptation :D

closely followed by True Faith, Regret and Blue Monday

When I was a very small boy
very small boys played with me
Now that we've grown up together
they're all taking drugs with me

:)

Having said that, I enjoyed seeing Dobin the Rentaghost horse join them onstage for a rendition of World In Motion. The best trump card ever played by a hazbeen pop group. Ever

Alexandra Palace 1999 NYE was good. Special surprise appearance by Bez who just ran around the stage screaming,

"How does it feeeeeeeeeeel" during a nutso version of Blue Monday.

Time to 'fess up

I really really hate Blue Monday (it's down there with Come on Eileen imho)

Hangs head in shame.

:o

Peeps may want to go here . . . http://www.new-order.net/no/audio/
and d/l the 25 Aug 1984 set (Live an the BBC, simultaneously broeadcast on Radio 1 & BBC2, 128kbs ) for the band at, arguably their peak.

1. Sooner Than You Think
2. Blue Monday
3. Age Of Consent
4. In A Lonely Place
5. Temptation

OK, well any version less than about 25 minutes then :D :p

"I hear silence, in my heart, from a distance, turn your back and run from me, heard you calling............."

Just listening to it now, but I am intrigued as to why it was called 586. New Order were always an enigmatic band, though, and all the better for it.

It's unromantic but 586 is one of the best love songs ever written, IYSWIM.
