Farewell Hammersmith Palais

Real shame about this. I've only lived in the area for a couple of years and in that time I've seen the Doves, Missy Eliot, Hard-Fi, DJ Hype..among others.

There'll only be Shepherds Bush Empire to go out to soon or else I'll have to go to the West End, Camden or further to see good bands in a decent size venue...

No it's definitely the Nashville, I remember the Red Cow. The new pub built near it is meant to have bands on now, not been there yet. You've got a good memory Sir Belchalot, did you live round there? I was off Fulham Palace Road near the flyover.

Used to live in Hounslow until I was 18 so they were nearest pubs that put on good bands regularly.

I really hate it when churches take over decent venues :(

I still haven't got over the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God buying the Rainbow in Finsbury Park. That was a venue full of history and for once i wouldn't have minded if the Mean Fiddler had bought it...

The Fall were fantastic as the last ever gig at the Palais. The songs from the latest album sound so much better live.

Does anyone know who the first support act was? (The American lady with the guitar and laptop, not the appalling prog rockers).

It took me a while, but here's my Palais feature. I'll see if I can add some onstage pics from my gig (if I can find any).

I've also tracked down 3 live YouTube performances of the seminal Clash tune.

Walked past the old Palais earlier today. It's looking very sad indeed:

I had heard that it was going to be flats/apartments, but I guess maybe the All Enquiries sign means that's fallen through.
