Fantasy novel reccomendations

Coincimentally, I just got this email from a friend:

Ha I got Game of Thrones-themed viagra spam. This text was included with the advert to get it (successfuly) through my spam-blocker. Which is surprising as I don't actually visit many GoT websites...

go through? I have cancelled plans to stay in and read before. I have made up fake plans in order to stay home and read before.

These days I read about three hours of fiction a day and maybe one hour of news/net stuff

I've taken holidays because there was a book I was going to read.

I've even been known to hole up in the tent at festivals to get some reading done.

For books, there is no "I'll read it later" - only "I'll read it after those ten there, and that pile there".

None of you read Steven Erickson either, and he is top quality

oh, and I was pleased to get jury service, because it gave me an excuse to buy and read the one before Reavers Gale - thanks for reminding me of that.

Erickson's corpses actually stink off the page. It's incredible.

Oh it is new sun I'm reading first, Shadow and Claw

I read Calde of the Long Sun ages ago and keep getting muddled. It was Too Hard for a twelve YO like me but it stuck in my mind. Hence the recent Gene Wolf purchase

I've bought Castle of Days (I think) - and the author's instructions are "don't read it in one sitting - read a piece occasionally".
Hardest thing I've ever done with a book.

I've read the first two and they are way way too long. Plus he doesn't explain fuck all. I didn't know what the fuck was going in in Gardens of the Moon, and I still don't!

It's a narrative history of an imagined world. Although there are several overarching plotlines, there are tons of sub plots and character driven strands.

There's alo another fella Esselmont, who has written some stories within the same Universe. Must get some of hi stuff

Yes I know, unfortuantely the complete lack of explanation and exposition turned him right off. He's in dire need of a stricter editor; those books do not need to be that long at all.
