Falafel in your face

I also LOVE falafel. The best falafel I ever had was one from a kebab shop next to Old Street tube station and it had ALL the trimmings - pink cabbage, those lush weird chillis, sauces and stuff.

I have it at home and Geoff laughs at me because I always, without fail, get in a massive massive mess. I like it with tzatziki and hummus and olives and salad and chilllis and etc etc.

I ♥ falafel, if you ever get the opportunity have one from Crystal on Holloway road opp the Odeon, as good as ones in the mid east I promise, well almost, but a great nom I've got some cauldron ones ready to go at the mo, with onions:hmm:

If you have falafel with hummus aren't you in danger of killing yourself with chick pea overload?

Not if you balance it up with an extra large squeeze of lemon.

If you are having chips with it then you could put some of the surplus lemon on the chips.

Then make lemonade with the lemon that is left.

anything involving peas is fail.

Did you know pea as a singular is a back-formation from pease?

Yes I am the soul of the party

A shop near me sells a 'falafel meal' which consists of falafel and some houmous to dip them in. Which is like dipping potato wedges in some mashed potato. Lunacy.

So, is there enough moisture in this recipe to hold it all together when frying/oven cooking? Because I can foresee a big old crumbly mess in the bottom of my pan.

HOT pan. Some recipes ask for eggs. Not necessary. Some even ask for flour (from wheat to gram). Again, not necessary. If you fel you need more stick, you could add a little tahini, though.

It's very easy to make. You mash some chick peas, add some spices and onions, make into patties, and fry it.

I have them on pitta with houmous and salad. Maybe Greek salad.

Or buy packet mix from a supermarket. Add water. Shaped into balls. Fry. Job done.

I love the tiny take away falafal bars they have in Amsterdam.
Fresh falafal in a pitta and add your own salad from the massive salad bar (included in the price) and off you go. Nom nom nom.

Why don't we have them in the UK :(

there's a place on charing x road that does a good felafel and homous in pitta. Gabi's iirc, sort of opposite foyles :)

Because in the UK we recognise how fucking stupid pitta is.
