Faith No more reunion?

Don't agree, my favourite is Angel Dust, that's their peak imo where they reached maturity, good riffs but retained some of that sillyness. Everything before was too amateur, and everything after was too conservative.

This. *makes secret sign at K_E*

I hope - haha - that not "everything's ruined"! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I reckon there could be a huge possee going to this. Personally, I can think of about 15 people who would kill to be there.

I personally think FNM got better with every album, and I only just missed out on seeing their last tour, so for me this is all about seeing "Naked in front of the computer" or "Digging the grave" rather than "Epic" et al.

Thus - Jim Martin? Not that fussed.

I hear you, man. I saw them in '97 at Brixton Academy but at that point only knew a few big tracks and 'Album of the Year' - REALLY looking forward to seeing them now I know all the back catalogue :)

Yeah, I thought King For a Day Fool For a Lifetime was a very underrated album.

Never heard the final one that much, b ut my mate really rated it.

Faith No More have released a statement confirming that they will reunite for a tour this year.

The statement reads:

“During the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.”

The band then say reflection on their music prompted the reunion.

“What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right…and so with this we've decided to hold our collective breaths and jump off this cliff.... BACK, GOD FORBID, INTO THE MONKEY CAGE!!!”

They conclude with a line-up confirmation, which does not include guitarist Jim Martin, who left the band in 1993.

‘We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of FNM. Who know where this will end or what it will bring up...only the future knows. But we are about to find out!

FAITH NO MORE are:
Mike Bordin, Roddy Bottum, Bill Gould, Jon Hudson and Mike Patton.”

how you feel about this depends on how you see them, I think. Martin was the trad rock element in the band - he just wanted them to be like Sabbath, which is fine, but I think the rest of them had more interesting ideas about what they were doing and his guitar playing, while good, is about the least interesting aspect of their music.

so, you know, screw him.

Yeah, but it was that dichotomy which made them a great band.

Definitely agree. Mind you, AD was the first that I heard.

I do think King For a Day is a little underrated though.

Faith No More, have been confirmed as the third headliner for this year's Download.

The show will the hugely influential and pioneering American rock band's only UK appearance this year. They fused heavy metal, funk, hip-hop, and progressive rock, and broke their brand of metal out into the mainstream, confirmed last week that they would be reuniting, 11 years after they called it a day in April 1998.

Balls :(

i'm not paying £135 to go and see FNM at a festival :( i can't be arsed with any of the other bands they've got playing.

That is one godawful line-up as well. I didn't know Slipknot were still going, and the idea that Def Leppard, Whitesnake, and to a lesser extent ZZ Top are relevant to the youth of today fills me with loathing and fear for the future. Did we not fight the Grunge Wars for nothing, so that these insipid fret-wankers and blowhards could be back on the stadiums they were laughed out of 15 years ago? It was bad enough watching the tuneless macho posturing of Korn (first album aside), and the moronic date-rape soundtrackers Limp Bizkit achieve success. Fucking awful.

i'd easily go to paris or amsterdam(especially amsterdam) to go and see fnm.

Any european dates been announced?

Oh god, I've gotten old. Seriously though, I love rock music, but there hasn't been anything in ages that really rocks that has done it for me. Any recommendations for intelligent heavy modern music gratefully accepted. It's acres and acres of ignorance out there. Even marilyn Manson is dull these days. His heart's not in it. Mind you, he released his first record in 94, so he's probably wearing orthopaedic stilts now and not tearing up bibles in case he puts his back out.

Whitesnake... man, that's awful. There's no excuse for anyone to listen to that sexually frustrated, leotard-wearing twaddle.

nods (whilst noting that ZZ Top's first few albums constitute grand stuff)

fuck all that anyway, The Jesus Lizard are playing Kentish Town Forum on the 11th May, should provide a worthy antidote to fretwankery
