Fair4life Free Music Festival 20/08/05

I guess so, but no such ban existed at the County Fair

Oh yes it did, it's just that Lambeth did a crap job of publicising their own restrictions on their own event...

Don't take glass into the park folks please...

:)

this is happening, i met a friend organising it on saturday putting up the posters, lambeth are being c**ts though over having to have a fence, the mind boggles.

It's shite isn't it. It's my old mate who's one of the organisers and he's apologised endlessly about the lack of publicity, caused largely because every time they turn around Lambeth Council have thrown another obstacle in their path. He thought he'd have been applying the final cosmetic touches rather than rushing through final last minute arrangements.

I'll be there stewarding for at least some of Saturday to try and help out. If anyone else can spare a few hours to steward it'll be hugely appreciated. Please let me know if you can.

And of course:
PLEASE, PLEASE THROW GENEROUS AMOUNTS INTO THE COLLECTION BUCKETS.

Everything that this festival earns will go back to charities supporting grass roots cancer care. The only catch being that - with Lambeth Council fecking around and this being the festie's first year - that the two organisers are having to put significant amounts of their money in to get this thing off the ground. Please help them raise some cash and establish this event on Lambeth's calender...

:)

well I have already emailed f*** about it, but am waiting for infos still.

glad to hear it's all happening, hopefully it'll be a good day :)

I was SO going to this, but its me and my girlfriends first anniversary and I've organised something a bit more couplely. :o

enjoy people. the sun's gonna be blaaaaaaaaaaaaa-zin.

Lambeth council never fail to dissapoint. How ridiculous having a fence at a free festival. I bet they were gutted they couldn't manage to stop this going ahead. It seems they're in favour of comercial events only in Brockwell park.

Yeah I know, and my mates are doing a party in Brum. What's the matter with people? Bank holiday is the perfect weekend for a party!

I could sample you saying those lines, then I'll make my very own scumtek anthem to rival One Night in Hackney, wth the sound of squeaky acid and a tumbledryer in the background

surely that's half the point? in previous years, this weekend has been dead and Bank Holiday weekend completely over-provided for. so i guess a lot of people hoped to avoid the rush and get in a week early?

To be fair, it seems some people in the council have been very helpful, with the rate for hiring the park cut considerably on appeal, Whilst others, it seems, take jobsworthyness onto a whole new level. Mr Musthaveafence seems to fall into this category.

I'm keeping fingers crossed for this one. It's going to be a good day whatever, but they're counting on the generosity of visitors to make enough money to cover their own costs and make a bulk donation to charity.

Looking forward to it all though. Looks like a promisingly sunny weekend.

:)
