Facts about public transport in London

When 97% of journeys are taken with an Oyster card I think it's a completely fair comparison.
again you don't see that this is a forced statistic.... the reason for the take up on oyster cards was what exactly and in fact they said they'd do this in order to encourage the use of oyster...

come on even livingstons no more fair raises once im back in lie accepted that fairs would have to rise every year for the next few why don't you??

Your point was that a bus fare was £1. The bus fare I and 97.5% of other users pay is 90p, a decrease of 10%. That the remaining 2.5% can't get their acts together to get an Oyster card isn't my problem.

what about the poor folk that haven't got any change on them for the bus fare :(

((poor folk))

OK, furry muff if you're a tourist, but if you live in London there's no fucking excuse. IMVHO of course...

Cash customers are penalised for the inconvenience of cash, keeping it, counting it, having it checked at the garage, having it collected by security, etc. It's an admin pain in the arse.

The difference between us Garf, is that I believe Ken meant what he said but was forced to choose between going back on his word or risking public services due to unforseen circumstances. You, on the other hand, had your hopes crushed by Tony Blair and will never trust anyone ever again :(

Oyster cards cost you a £3 holding fee.. Thats 30 10 pence's, so after 30 journeys on the bus you actually will only pay 90p a journey..

why dont they allow the oyster cards to be free..?

no i didn't...

bloody loon!!

for what it's worth i voted lib dem...

always have...

But no i don't think that Ken or any other fucker who makes election promises can do so and then turn around and break every single one of them once they have their feet back under the table.

I'd call wanting to beleive in the inherent good of politicions hopelessly naive

really? so you want the Mayor to have a referendum every time he runs over budget?

at the risk of going hopelessly off topic... you have been mayor how many times now?

or are you just as guilty of supossition even if its froma more informed standpoint...

can you please quote where that has at any point been intermated by me... links and sources please otherwise you are in grave danger of repeating your previous faux pas of attempting to tell others their own minds....

I think that there should actually be new legislation which makes it an imprisonable offence to make election promises verbally or written which you then cannot keep...

It's like someone saying vote for me as leader i'll save your house from demolition and then once in demolishing the house...

Oh and you might want to about face on the whole blaming the disaffect, disenfrancised public for refusing to accept poltitions particularlly career poltitions like livingstone as being honest when all of their track records prove definitively they aren't...

Sorry!

Please dont be angry..

I just think the fares are expensive & could be halved. Apparently Buses carry 5.4 million passengers a day.. x that by 90 = 4.86 million pounds a day on bus journeys alone.. Thats a stack of cash.. maintinace cant be that much.. I think some people are taking to much money for poor advice.. Its only a humble opinion.. The buses are regular & they are cleanish, but they do cost alot of money..

Its refundable i think...

But when you get a new card its £3.. + whatever you wanna put on it?

Maybe i'm wrong... I dont know... I'd rather stick with paying cash.. But thats twice as much... whats london coming too.??

not at all.. but seeming as I work for him on transport policy, I would hope to be better informed than most about his u-turns.

Oh, wait a moment.. this is another Garf bashes ken thread. I'd better stand back and let you get on with it.

If you include collisions with them in that figure ... I don't know, but a bus stop very near my gaff has been turned into a shrine after three teenagers were killed in a collision with one one New Year's Day. :( Not that that might not have happened in a crash with a conventional bus, mind.

Exactly. There was a nasty accident at a bus stop near St Matthews Church in Brixton years ago where I think one or two people died and the third one may have lost her legs

Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Oh :D

I thought it was something to do with transport :D

Anyway, did he buy a house in Dulwich just the once or did he buy another one? Does he still have it?

Oh, you mean about politicians facing prosecution for having to raise fares? Does Brian Paddick agree with you?
