Fabulous or frumpy? Help me decide!

the site from the 2nd one, the www.curvygirlvintage.co.uk has some cute stuff though!!

that usually ain't my thing, well i like vintage clothes, but mostly jeans etc, but i think this dress is adorable....

(i may get that for myself :o )

Take away the detailing and there is nothing really wowee about the smocks but for the beautiful colours the first has to be owned. And don't forget florets & bouquets are HUGE this season. Whip out your gladiator sandals and wide cuff bracelet, neon feather earing and you have an outfit that rocks!

are you some sort of fashion journo? :hmm:

Oh no - the fashion jury is turning. Mind you, the laydees are mostly for, and that's what really matters. :D

Why don't you just get them, post pics of you wearing them and then everyone can decide. You can always send them back :D

I don't normally buy clothes on the internet, but I am inexplicably drawn to this vintage dress on ebay:

I *think* I like it, but maybe I'm deluding myself and it will make me look like Margot from The Good Life. :D

Fashionistas of urban, what do you think?

I also like this one, by the same designer:

Those dresses are gorgeous!

I must check out that website.

I really wish you hadn't put the 'Margot' image in my head Ms T :D

I don't like the neckline but I think you could certainly carry of those dresses. I've never seen you wearing anything that didn't suit you or that you didn't carry off, even if it isn't my taste iykwim.

TBH, I think both photos are poor as they don't show the shape of the dresses.

The applique on black is lovely, as are the necklines & sleeves, but going by those photos, it's hard to tell if they are a bit shapeless or not.

I can't come at the first one, I think there's a reason it is pictured on a hanger rather than a person/dummy. The 2nd one I think you could carry off with aplomb. I like that site too

The second one is not you at all and would just drown you IMO.

The first one I like, mainly because of the lovely applique. It's not your normal style though, and the only way to know if it'd suit you is to try it on. What is their returns policy?

I think both the smock dresses look fab.

To be honest, the Black one with the White stripes is more subtle and the colour would go with anything IMO. Would look nice if you added a Wide belt & sort of bagged it over.

You could even wear it like a Tunic with Leggings or Skinny Jeans! Very Nicole Richie.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, GS.

Well I have bought the second one, and it's arriving tomorrow, so we shall see.

I'm beginning to regret introducing you all to curvygirlvintage - you're going to nab all the best stuff before I do.:D

I love the Grecian Godess one as well. Sadly, they don't do returns, afaik.

I think the second one is smaller than the first one though - only a 30" waist according to their measurements. I'm a bit worried that you think it's not "me" though - as I've bought it now!

I'm not quite sure what is "me", tbh. Looking at my wardrobe it's quite eclectic! I would love to be one of those women with a pared down wardrobe of classics, but I'm a sucker for a cheap frock. :D

i just realised something....

as these are vintage they arent in 'stock', theres ONE goddess dress and its a size 14-16, i wear an 8....

An 8US or an 8UK? Remember that an 8US is about a 12 in the UK. You need to go by the measurements, not the sizing anyway.

Well obviously you should have waited to see what I said on the subject :p ;)

Fair point. But my impression is that most of your stuff is quite fitted. Not that there's anything wrong with a change.

Love the 1st two!

As someone said before, they're very Nicole Richie Boho-style. But i also like the Gold one above & the White Grecian one.

Are they vintage?!!! They look in very good condition.
