FA Cup Third Round Weekend

Seeing the replays both of those penalties are decidedly dodgy looking.
Well, the Luton one was more clear cut than the Liverpool one, but both could have probably gone either way in this game!

Luton lad was brought down clean through on goal. Penalty. If the keeper tackles and takes the man it's a foul. In the box, penalty.

There you are, decision summarised for hard of thinking

Nah, I wouldn't have given that penalty for treading on the keeper.

Liverpool are back in though.

Did you see the replay from the goal angle? The Luton bloke prett ymuch trod on the keeper by the looks of it.

Yeah, brought down by the keeper's clumsy challenge.

WHy was the keeper there to be trod on? Because he challenged for the ball and didn't get it. Therefore foul, therefore penalty.

He was there because it's his job to be.
If he had properly piled in and taken him out I'd agree, but not for being trodden on, there wasn't much contact from what I could see in any case.

He put his body in the way of the player in order to try and win the ball. He failed to win the ball, his body helped bring the player down.

This is the definition of a 'foul'.

Took a huge deflection, he hit it straight into the Luton lad's leg
