and i'm bored with your thoroughly dishonest attempt to disguise where you're really coming from
What the fuck are you on about now?

What am I "disguising" and what is your evidence for this bizarre claim, please?

Any chance of a straight reply or can I in expect yet another extended wriggle-a-thon on this one too?

Birmingham - good access, etc etc...
I can't see why it couldn't be in the Midlands.

Trouble is, the proposed site for a Brum stadium would be outside Birmingham in the middle of nowhere - it would be like visiting a US-style sports shopping mall complex.

I'm trying hard not to be biased here, but Cardiff pisses all over the north London nightmare of Wembley for a day out. Cardiff's got decent bars, pubs, restaurants by the score, a ton of interesting things to do/see in the area and it's only 2hrs from London.

Wembley's just a sea of conference centres and burger vans, and it can take the best part of an hour to get to the fucking place on match days.

I want to see you get to the Millenium Stadium from your house in 2 hours on a match day. Go to Wembly on a match day, generally a Saturday, 100,000 people on the London transport system isn't exactly stretching it. I've been on FA Cup days and its seen deserted trains. Places like Tottenham suffer much worse than Wembly.

I've got from Paddington to Cardiff in around two hours, no sweat and it takes minutes toget inside the stadium (which is two mins from the station).

Wembley's a fucking shit hole. The land of the burger van. Can't see why anyone would want to go there. I'd rather go to Birmingham.

i thought u couldn't be arsed with this? as i have stated before the only reason you are so obsessed (a bit of the case of pot, kettle, black with you using that term in relationship to anyone else on this subject) is the location. so will you stop your 'wriggling' and say whether you would have been so bothered with this if it had referred to a different location? i doubt if you will because you know the answer is no.

Happy to oblige just as soon as you asnswer the question I've asked you at least five times now.

Are you capable of doing that?

Please name the "people" who were "suddenly jumping to the defence of businesses to hike their prices to ridiculous levels," please?

Simple question. Straight answer please.

i believe i've stated before that you're doing a remarkably good job of it. after all, if you're not happy with that situation then why are you so obsessed with pursuing this thread?

You said "people", not "person". That means more than one.

Try again sunshine.

now that is wriggling. pathetic :
You made the claim, not me! They're your own words!

If you're unable to back them up, just say so because this wriggle-a-thon really isn't doing you any favours!

<edit to add: tell you what: don't bother replying because it's now clear that you're never going to give a straight answer and this must be boring the fuck out of everyone else>

Now, back to the FA cup at Cardiff...

let's face it, you're merely attempting to divert attention from your own pathetic bias. if you want to play petty games with who answers a particular question then fine. i made the point about city bias early on in this thread. you choose to ignore that and instead asked a question about who's defending what. therefore don't try and come on with some holier than thou attitude about who's avoiding giving an answer. you also on the one hand bemoan the supposed level of debate on the thread while on the other calling someone 'weird' for daring to suggest that someone might be motivated by regional bias (yeah right, that's a really odd concept). that makes you nothing more than a hypocrite

But nightowl, Wembley is a bloody rubbish area for a stadium - whereas Cardiff isn't.

If Wembley had any decent places to put up prices for, I'm sure they would

<ignores irritating whine from one-note nightowl>

You're absolutely right, of course.

Unlike Wembley ( a bland, nondescript suburb with a load of ugly conference centres and a stadium slapped in the middle), Cardiff is a proper, modern city with enough attractions and a bustling night life to make people want to visit the place in its own right. Because people want to stay the weekend for football games, hotel space is at a premium (although you can find cheap accomodation outside the city).

Try as I might, I can't think of many tourists booking themselves into Wembley to admire the local attractions for a week.

Take the corporate/football stuff interests of Wembley and you've got, well, very little of interest to anyone. I fucking hate the place.

Talking of Wembley, I went to what was supposed to be the last ever football game there:

wembley1.jpg

I was invited to one of the last ever games to be played there, a charity England v Scotland match, watched by a diminutive crowd of under 300.

Bizarrely, a soundtrack of a huge crowd noises was blasted through the Tannoy as the assembled collection of the vaguely famous (Sean Bean), fading footballers (David Pleat), obscure bands (Atomic Kitten) and 'D' list 'celebs' battled on the muddy remnants of the pitch.

agreed, wembley is a shithole. however, i've already acknowledged that other places put prices up for big sporting events.
