fa cup final heading to cardiff

i have a problem with people being ripped off and the only instances i have heard of so far involve accommodation prices being hiked up. if u can enlighten me as to other ways that people are ripped off (other people have mentioned pub owners, etc. i have not) then please do so

I know for a fcat that the two taverns I frequent which offer B and B don't stuff their prices up for footy weekends are just pleased to fill their rooms for once. Much the same elsewhewre I would suspect. Not so much a case of putting up their prices, but just not offering as many deals as normal.

Anyhow, do you think it would be any different if it were at Wembley?

I would suggest that an inflated guest house rate in Cardiff is still cheaper than a normal rate in London town!!

i think i've already responded to that type of point, as i told the editor

not obsessed at all actually. i merely mentioned what is a fact and find it odd that people seem to be suddenly jumping to the defence of businesses to hike their prices to ridiculous levels.
Where's that happened then?

Acknowledging that something happens is not the same as "defending" it

the fairly huffy tone since i raised the point leads me to believe that people are obviously happy with the situation. would you be pursuing the point if they were not cardiff businesses? i don't think you would. in fact if a bunch of people from cardiff went somewhere, paid well over the odds for accommodation and someone made a comment on here about it somehow i don't think certain people would be making similar responses. they would probably be queuing up to criticise the situation.

So, you can't find anyone "suddenly jumping to the defence of businesses to hike their prices to ridiculous levels", then?

I'm not reading the thread as it might remind me of 606 or something - all I will say is I have nothing but praise for Cardiff and I would keep it there full time if I had my way.

Also 3 appearances - 3 wins

UP THE POOL!!!

I'm trying hard not to be biased here, but Cardiff pisses all over the north London nightmare of Wembley for a day out. Cardiff's got decent bars, pubs, restaurants by the score, a ton of interesting things to do/see in the area and it's only 2hrs from London.

Wembley's just a sea of conference centres and burger vans, and it can take the best part of an hour to get to the fucking place on match days.

not trying hard enough actually. let's face it the huffy attitude here smacks of small minded 'don't criticise my city' nonsense. if someone from cardiff criticised this happening elsewhere you would be taking a difference tone and you know it.

Hold on there. I'm still waiting for you to name these people, "suddenly jumping to the defence of businesses to hike their prices to ridiculous levels." So who are they, then?

Unless you intend to start a new thread for every city where a few hotel owners hike their prices in response to huge demand, I can;t see what your point is.

Either way, it'll almost always be cheaper to book a hotel around Cardiff than in London.

So what is your point, by the way?

so do you think it's right or wrong then or are you still adopting your 'it happens everywhere' cop out? if someone from cardiff had criticised hotels in london you'd be all over it.

What?!!! You're weird, mate.

Shame you still refuse to answer the question I've asked you three times, mind.

But london hotels have higher prices 'because it's london' - same thing, all year round. It costs an arm and a leg to stay in a hotel in Bath - all year round, because it's Bath. Same with loads of places. Is that right?

These hotels are charging over the odds because of the location - So what if they do that for a few days, because Cardiff happens to be a place people want to be.

why? because i can see through your small-minded 'my town, my town' attitude?

perhaps you should answer the one about where you actually stand on the issue

It seems that you think debate takes the form of ignoring another person's questions and then projecting your own opinion onto them.

And that makes you look rather silly and, frankly, somewhat dishonest.

But the fourth time, could you name these people "suddenly jumping to the defence of businesses to hike their prices to ridiculous levels," please?

You made the claim. How about you back it up?

righty ho, so your smartass opening comment of 'Yes. Because every last one of them is greedy, aren't they?' when nothing like that had even been hinted at was your idea of debate then? i would also suggest that you looked rather silly yourself when i had to refer you to earlier answers, showing that you couldn't be bothered to read the whole thread.

it is clear to anyone reading this thread that you are doing a fantastic job of attempting to defend them yourself. if you are not then why are you so 'obsessed' by the subject if i can use an earlier phrase. again, if this thread referred to anywhere else you would not have bothered replying to my point. the only difference was the fact that 'cardiff' was involved and you know it. let's pretend this is a slightly different thread along the lines of 'i went to watch the bluebirds in birmingham on saturday and half the places had put their prices up double'. would you be adopting your current attitude to it? no

Seeing as you're unable to give a straight answer to a straight question, I can't be arsed with this any more.

I'm bored with your thoroughly dishonest projection.

and i'm bored with your thoroughly dishonest attempt to disguise where you're really coming from

Why is my question ignored completely

If a paedophile zombie from a.n other bulletin board is in cardiff a banned poster offline offline offline st reatham george galloway?.

Now is that better for you all?

:)

Cardiff is a city. Wembley is just bloody shitty.

Should have been Brum, and I'm not a fan of Birmingham. I reckon it'd have been done on time - London is generally rubbish at getting things done

Of course it should have been in Brum. That would be far to sensible though.

Where should we put the national stadium?. In the middle. NOOOOOOOO!

fucking londoncentric idiots

Birmingham - good access, etc etc...

I mean, 2012 olympics in London. Don't make me fucking laugh, it'll be a disaster.

Yet manchester has a track record with the commonwealth games and it wasn't even considered.

Then again, everyone south of Birmingham knows their way to Old Trafford :D

Would be stupid to have the olympics in a town after all :D

Fleetwood 2012. - it's the way forward.

Portsmouth 2012 - links to the continent, seaside venue for the water events.

Could blow up the Isle of Wight to kick off the whole thing  Fantastic.
