Starting at the very top - our doughty heroes from Jarrow Roofing Boldon CA march on with a hard fought 1-0 win over Norton & Stockton Ancients! Marvellous news as the roofers reach the first qualifying round.

Mixed fortunes on the railways as Harrogate Railway go through with an eye catching 4-1 win at the somewhat inappropriately named Esh Winning but Darlington Railway Athletic crash out to Consett.

Bradford (Park Avenue) are through, 1-0 victors at Ossett but fellow former league boys Glossop North End have to dream on for another year as do Sheffield FC and Corinthian Casuals, alas the Cup pays little respect to even the most venerable of football clubs.

In the midlands, Quorn FC did much for the cause of vegetarians everywhere with a stonking 6-1 away win over Pelsall Villa. Stone Dominoes should have stuck to pub games though after a tame exit at Glapwell. Special mention for Barnt Green Spartak, who not only triumphed over Willenhall but also possess a splendid name which had escaped me in my last analysis of the draw for this round. Over in East Anglia, Ipswich Wanderers took the prize for most spectacular exit of the round, a 10-1 home reverse against Needham Market enough to make anyone wince.

Down London way and sadly the Cup will not be staying in the immediate vicinity of the stadium this year as Wembley exit at home to Ware. One day lads, one day... The boys of the Metropolitan Police will have to stick to mounted duty on cup final day as well, they lost 1-0 at home to Croydon Athletic. Most impressive ding dong battle of the day is surely the 7-6 epic in which Colliers Wood eventually emerged triumphant over the beaten but decidedly unbowed Faversham. Great stuff, exactly what the cup's all about. London APSA's replay heroics of the previous round were all in vain sadly, going down 2-0 at Tiptree.

Way out west, Vase holders Truro are looking ominous, despatching Barnstaple 6-0 on their own turf and my parents local boys Hallen scored a satisfying victory at Shepton Mallet to keep them on course for glory.

Marvellous stuff

One of the great enigmas of the Cup. Possibly even they don't know.

good work that man. a sort of Hampshire version of Cammell Laird then.

Last of the weekend results:

Trafford FC 2 - 5 FC United Of Manchester
Woodley Sports FC 1 - 1 Mossley AFC
Causeway United FC 1 - 1 Westfields FC
Evesham United FC 1 - 0 Gresley Rovers FC
Barkingside FC 2 - 1 Hanwell Town FC
Wootton Bassett Town FC 2 - 1 Bracknell Town FC
Beaconsfield SYCOB FC 0 - 0 Hungerford Town FC

FC United win their first ever Cup match in fine style there

I see Erith Town (see post #57) beat Vickers, Crayford & Dartford Athletic F.C 1-0 in a tightly fought local battle and, for family reasons, was quite pleased to see Arundel draw with Molesey. Engulfed by bitter disappointment at the news Corrie Casuals fell on their sword beside the A3 to Deal.

Local boys Dulwich Hamlet didn’t suffer any restrictions against lowly Three Bridges, while Odd Down FC went down at Welton Rovers.

But the Roofers continue to march on, I’ll be guttered if they don’t scaffold the Cup aloft in May !

Great website that, a vital resource for the groundhoppers amoungst us..

London Calling..?? you a "Lardy Boy" from Horsham..??

Doing better trhan us at the moment in the RL Prem.

I see that we will be playing Cray Wanderers away in the cup as they beat Tooting & Mitcham on Saturday. Shame an away cup game at T&M would have attracted a crowd of about 1800. There will most likely be only 1000 at Hayes Lane (Cray share with Bromley)..

It’s possible I may not be entirely unfamiliar with the world of Lardism. Yep, your home defeat to Harrow was noted but I’m sure you’ll pick up again before long.

The last season at Queen Street – last chance if you haven’t been.

Regards to Mr Salad and the boys.

Queen Street - lovely proper football ground, its not be "redeveloped".. words that strike fear into ever true football fans hearts.

It was a cool summer so Mr Salad survived & was seen on Saturday.

Regarding Saturday, Harrow were the better team took their chances deserved their win.. See you on the th December at Queen Street..

don't you find you end up playing in the same ground a lot due to the size of the crowds you attract?

While we have missed out on some of the very small grounds one of the absolute delights about following FC is the journey into deepest darkest lancashire

Real shame. A derby at Tooting would have been great for both clubs.
Tooting fans must be really gutted.

Bromley was actually my fav ground when they were in the same Div. Such good elevation on that far bank (and near the dugouts), interesting seating behind one goal and two large bars. Could have done with some shelter on that big bank but otherwise . . . really excellent ground.

The new T&M ground is just soulless - nice main stand but a concrete bowl - IMO.

Oh yes some classic non-league grounds, some just fields..

For example the joys of chessington & Hook Utd's covered terrace..

Danny Oakins, last minute free kick, as I remember. Small world I was at that gane as well..

I missed the goal 'cos I was in the bar trying to find out the Rovers result - heard the cheer for the goal, rushed outside, rushed back in again and found I'd missed a last minuter in our game as well. Can't even remember whether it was who scored it or not. Probably not given that we were in our 'indescribably shit' period.

I'd do that of course as well, but why? It's not as if they're going to show you an action replay.

bizarre isn't it. I knew who had scored without looking as well, given that AFCW had about 1000 fans there and Farnham had about 12.

Leeloks said:
Off subject a little but how are AFCW doing these days?

Grumble, grumble, grumble..:(

one point out of nine is not the promotion form we were expecting this season. Especially being the only team in the Ryman League to have a full time manager.
