First round proper today, we're at home to Billericay to see who's the best jumped up tinpot side bankrolled by an egotist Just survived a very late pitch inspection and taking it seriously with a strong side similar to the one took us top of Division Four last week in our local derby. Should be winning this fairly comfortably. Chichester and Carlisle already through, former on a bye, latter against some non-league team in South London should imagine no-one round here's heard of. Vale might give MK Dons a shock I reckon, maybe Crewe at Accrington too. ETA Oh, just read Macc are putting a youth team out tomorrow due to senior squad being on strike so that puts Kingstonian in with a good chance you'd think.
yeh i don't fancy grimsby's chances but hoping for a 2-1 win. lucky auld mansfield should have a bye to the next round away to chorley tho
Sunderland Gills just ended in a draw so they'll be adding to the traditional winter fixture pile-up.
Dominated without capitalising for a bit but dam's burst and we're three up at the half. See grimsby snuck ahead, Crewe too and maidenhead at Rotherham. Darlo leading Walsall too.
Think Chorley got to National on back of a solid defence but they've struggled at the higher level. Maybe still good at shutting it out.
Saw it out four nil, slacked off a bit and almost conceded but they were offside but bar that rarely let them near the goal. Professional showing and good to see a few of our league rivals having replays to face. Darlo went behind then nicked a draw in seventh minute of injury time. Weird one at crewe where tow refs got injured so it's still half time. Vale got the win.
That makeshift Macc side already three down at home to Kingstonian! ETA Just finished Dover 1 Southend 0 too, Southend really struggling this season, has Sol actually started there yet?
Orient beaten at home by a club 4 Levels below them. Think that’s safely our worst ever FA Cup result. Nothing, er, jammy about Maldon & Tiptree’s win either. They were quick, fired up and confident. Orient look all at sea again - the strange appointment of rookie charisma-vacuum Carl Fletcher as gaffer has us sinking like a stone. Already unified the fans in wanting him out, and the same players who won 3 on the bounce before he pitched up look utterly lost on the pitch. Not a bad effort after 5 games in charge.
Scrappy draw home to Carlisle, started well and took and early lead, then conceded possession softly and they scored a cracker. Then behind but responded fairly quickly. Not much quality really. Shame for Alty going out late having got back in it at Pompey.
Well the game against Chichester was never going to be a thriller and the first half had all the makings for a giant killing by Chichester who seemed much better at everything. Then the second half and all of a sudden we managed to score and everything turned around. The final score was not a true reflection of the game and Chichester deserved the consolation goal. We dodged the banana skin, onwards and upwards.
Villa, West Brom, Forest, Derby, Stoke and Leeds all playing in London the same day. A busy day indeed.
It could have been worse, we haven't been setting the league alight this season so it could be a welcome distraction.
Hey, we just beat Man United! We fear nobody. Man United Under-21s see Wembley dream thwarted by Tranmere Rovers
