F1 2008

Yeah I think Coulthard nailed himself to the wall a bit there because after Brundle said that Louise asked Coulthard if he knew Massa was there and he said "of course I did"

Lets face it, if Coulthard is involved in an accident its never his fault and this one looks like a normal racing incident to me, Massa was far enough in that he had the line and Coulthard couldn't see him and tried to block too late.

Edited to add youtube video

Nothing wrong with that. Coulthard's a cock.

Wanted to watch it live but slept through alarms. Managed to get through the day without hearing or seeing the results and really enjoyed the race. Some great racing and interesting incidents throughout.

Gonna be a good season :)

James Allen was wrong about the lollypop man being in the wrong there, the refueller should have been no where near the car and yeah maybe the lollypop man should have noticed but its as much the refueller's fault for trying to refuel the car when the safety car was out.

I hope Glock's ok, I hate it when they don't get out of the car straight away.

They had to refuel and take the penalty because he had totally run out.

They blamed the lollipop man fairly roundly earlier.

Although, having waited all this time, and avoided all news of the results all day I was in mid-full on row with the bank for the first half of the race and missed almost all of it until half way through. Bloody banks have SO much to answer for!!

On the other hand, thoroughly enjoyed the second half. And wasn't it nice to see new/newer faces on the podium - clearly delighted to be there as well. :)

Singapore's not just a night race, it's a road race too, and Valencia is another road race new this year but a day time one, if I've got all my facts straight?

Fantastic start to the season, good to see some excitement injected back in by the removal of traction control. Makes for real racing. The only downer for me was that the prancing arse still managed to claim a point even though both their cars went out.

Well good race untilt his moring when Ferrari get a fuckign poitn for not finishing.

Now Fucking Idiots Again if you might explain this ruling to us we'd all be very intrested as the postitions are those which are recorded as the winning car crosses over the finish line are those still running.

how would one gain points for a runnign car which had offically retired.

It being parked on the side of the circuit doesn't count as still being on the circuit running any more than if it were parked in the carpark...

RAGGHHHHHHH

Indeed Garf indeed...but at least Bourdais got some points because of the rule too - I felt he deserved them far more than Kimi.

Nice to see Williams doing well too...embarassing for Toyota but I think they're gonna be soundly beaten by their customer team!

tbf kimmi did a good job and the battle between him and Heikki was supurb...

can i aslo say if they do move from the circuit then please when you do bernie can you make sure the old bastard who's been doing the race direction for TV for some time, is utterly fired and indeed fed to small children as a soup....

really...

It's the 21st centry we have the abilite to record all the people on the planet. Knowign this, and added to it we specifc the area of observance is a circuit which like a circle has in effect no end or begining.

Know these two factors alone, would it be possible that you might considered have a race director who knew how to follow the same fucking cars all the time and stop showing us empty track for fuckss ake man it's been happening every fuckign year for at least the last 10 you'd think by now you'd know what it is that utter fucks people off durign a tense battle between cars is to cut off to a picture of empty track, people talking with no sound in the pits, shots of fucking mechanices ron dennis or the 100 and 1 other fucking things you cut to repeadly with out fuckign showing us the racing....

and please why the flying jesus on a hemaroid did each fucking replay take over 10 mins to turn up... WTF....

I hope it goes from their i don't think the circuit is up to modern racing and it's clear from the number of cars which launched into the air that it needs flattening the fuck out the aprons which caterpaulted the cars into the air looked like they were laid to support those large earth movers in quarries rather than the cars...

Yup, good to see him getting some points on his debut, we ddin't see too much of him, but from what I did see he looked solid.

Garf, you're completely right about the TV coverage, it's pretty dire and they really need to pull their collective fingers out.

The TV coverage was poor. I just hope we still have an Aussie race TBH.

Bernie's a twat....he wants to piss off the entireity of asia so Europe isn't a bit bleery eyed?? That's the joy of the first GP...getting up at stupid o'clock to see the season start.

I love the circuit too...better that than some crappy Tilke snooze fest in Russia or India.

It was a good circuit it really is suffering from the silverstone factor of utter mismanagement though.

It's uneven, the run off areas are poorly built and designed they are still using sand and sprayed/coloured gravel ffs...

The incident of the toyota leaping into the air on the run off area was as it hit the service road due to the visable unevenness in the ground which again shows the lack of care in preperation of the track it's really not on considering it will be the biggest money spinner they have all year not to invest some of that pot back in the track which they are earning from really...

It's too narrow as a track too.... needs widening by about 10 feet accross...

It's a road circuit it's part of the character...the Glock incident was bad but I doubt Singapore's streets will be any better - in fact it looks narrower. And I know from bitter experience that Valencian roads are piss poor!

oddly the parts where the cirucit wasn't a road circuit were the parts which were worst... oddly proving my point...

What the fuck is this rule? I can't find news of it on any of my usual sites  All I can find is sites showing Raikkonen being awarded one point even though it says he had retired due to engine problems.

He had retired!

Honestly can no one explain why Raikkonen scored points? I mean maybe Bourdais was lapped and retired so close to the end of the race that it counted as finishing but not Raikkonen. I cant find an explanation anywhere and how does this affect the whole engine changing/penalising rule? If he scored points does he get demoted ten places for replacing the engine before the next race or is he allowed a free change because he's technically classed as retiring?

Yeah!!
The BBC has F1 back again from next year.
Big surprise - hopefully also The Chain will be the theme tune again :)

Nice one - I wonder if Murray could be tempted out of retirement?

According to the breakfast news Bernie terminated Itv's deal early - so something must have pissed him off, don't think it was the ad breaks - annoying though they are.

Coverage of the race though is out of ITV or the BBC's hands - it's all done locally and then fed. Be glad to lose the ad breaks...the way ITV handled the San Marino GP a few years back was criminal.

Doubt Murray will be back and I hope they keep Steve Rider and Martin Brundle - Brundle's an F1 insider and his insight is crucial despite the obvious pandering to certain drivers.

James Allen and Louise Goodman can fuck right off though :D

it's like bernie reads these very forums.... :D

the only explaination i can find is that points are awarded to the top 8 as only 7 cars finished the reamining points would be given to the next person in the running order.

berine prably terminate the contract because their coverage and build up was appauling the whole team chat thing with mclaren with their new drivers was one of the most painful things i have ever seen...

not ture the bbc always had their own camera crews at each race except austraila as i recall meaning they could control to the action, rather than the ITV modle of taking the FIA feed given by the local director.

one wonders if this was part of the reason itv could bid higer than the bbc last time round.

Ah right....but I think you have to take the FIA feed now....it's all part of Bernie's deal  I'll ask the Beeb and see what they say!
