So how come hospitals generally advise people and staff to use alcohol based cleaners? Is it all part of some terrible Sun/Daily Mail inspired plot against Islam?

Some people don't take any advice and I'm sure they're not all Muslims. To repeat, the head of safety at the Healthcare Commission advises "there is no substitute for good old fashioned soap and water.” You'll have to excuse me, but I'll take his word over you on health matters, or any other matter come to that.

Funny how so many hospitals think that alcohol based cleaners are best...They must all be part of some anti muslim plot eh.....
Thank god the head of safety in the healthcare is standing up to all the bigots eh....Perhaps we should close down all the Hospitals until they get rid of all the nasty alcohol and stop persecuting muslims or perhaps some people need a reality check?

Alcohol based hand washes maybe the best, I don't know to be honest and neither do you. However, the Sun article alleges that some Muslims have a problem with this alcohol based product. Now, instead of having a rant at Muslims, wouldn't it be more helpful to make alternatives available as suggested by the healthcare official (quoted in the Sun article), who obviously knows what he's talking about?

How do you know how much the healthcare official knows or if his comments were reported accurately?

To be honest i think the story is pathetic and perhaps an attempt to marginalise muslims trying to make out they are all as barmy as some undoubtedly are....But the reaction to the story is every bit as pathetic.

Alcohol based cleaners are more effective and at a time when MRSA is rising anybody who disagrees should be stoned as a non believer.......

Washing your hands properly with soap and water is the best .Alchol gel is good as its quick and more people are prepared to use it more often .There are many reasons to despise islam lack of hand cleansing is not one of them

Alcahol is forbidden in Islam, and some other traditions, because it is an intoxicant. Strikes me that extending that to hand gels is un-neccessary.

Not neccesarily, nor was it always the case..........
