Eyebrow threading

I get my eyebrows done - one of the reasons I came back to london for a visit... that and to see my beloveds of course:o! Cant seem to find anywhere that does threading here. :(
£4 down and 6 mins later and I'm always pleased with results.

I don't think I'm going to bother with the threading - it sounds a bit like torture.

No, it's really not that bad, and it's so quick and precise! Are you going to go to the Debenhams eyebrow bar, let me know if you do as I'm not sure if I can cope with getting it done in the middle of Cabot Circus again!

I dunno, I'm a bit of a chicken really. My eyebrows are quite fair, so I don't know if it will look very different. I might go for a tint though. That can't hurt!

Imo it is torture! It's that scratchy sound as well and it hurts way more than waxing which is what I have done. Plus I don't like it when they press down on your eyeball.

I will admit that I like watching others have it done, it seems pretty skilled.

They press down on your eyeball! Why? I don't think I would like that, my contact lens might fall out.

They just get you to stretch your skin taut around the bottom of your eyebrow so it's easy to get to the root. Not 'pressing down on your eyeball', moomoo, you're doing it wrong.:D

I've just had a lovely hot bath.

Madusa is it really only 4 pounds? I might treat myself in that case...

Yes. Get thee to one of those asian beauty salons. I never pay more than 4.50 if I'm in London -Turnpike Lane or something or the east end. You could probably find it even cheaper in areas like Southall, Green Street, Newham, etc.

Eyebrow threading doesn't hurt at all. It might be a bit uncomfortable but it's super quick. And no, they don't press on your eyeball. I get mine done for 3 squid.

I have read this thread and one other on threading.

Did anyone come up with a salon in or near Brixton that does it?

So being that I posted this nearly a year ago....

Did any one find any threading places in or near Brixton?

I have had my eyebrows done a few times and for me it is so much better than plucking, waxing etc.

My eyebrows are white blonde so I can;t see them to pluck them but then I go out in sunlight and they glow like white caterpillars.
Waxing made me come up in a rash and then ingrowing hairs when they started to grow back.
Threading was cheap and no after effects.

The only places I have had them done are no where hear home though.

Ideas on places to go anyone?

madamv has taught herself from youtube. :D She has also practised on me and was very good but I suggested she get some sort of eye-browed Girls World.

The closest I've seen on is a couple of stops past St. Leonard's Church on Mitcham lane on the bus to Tooting. But if you go that far you might as well go to tooting and pick up some bargains in Primark when you're there.

Why not open a salon yourself, MrsD? It's a business opportunity waiting to happen.

I still haven't got around to having this done. I can't find anywhere cheap enough in Bristol, £12 in Debenhams and £10 (I think) in another place. I don't want to pay more than £5.

This is way way closer than that places I have had it done before.
There is a bus that goes from the end of my road to St Leonard' Chruch.

Any idea of what the place is called?

You can have it done in two shopping centres I've been in recently. Is it me or is it a tad odd to have a beauty treatment carried out in the middle of the mall concourse

Think they were charging £10 at the places I walked past although that's rather a high price to pay to be public entertainment

The first place I had it done was in Bluewater (Kent) and it was in the middle of the walk way.
It would have been embarrassing if everyone had not been very British about it and dramatically turned to look in the other direction :D
Only thing is I don't live anywhere near there any more and it was £12 which was quite a bit more than I know other people pay.

I've been doing me own since tribal princess posted a link to a YouTube vid. It's easy peasy, and pretty painless.

Really? I'd rather do my own than sit in a shopping centre. You're a brave woman kittyp. One of my neighbours would be bound to walk past if I did it :D

The places in London that do it cheaply tend to be the areas with large South Asian populations, e.g. Tooting and Southall. Does Bristol have such an area?

Yeah, I think I live in it. There are no salons that I know of though.

Hmmm, dunno then. But I would say that the ones in Whitechapel near where I work are often just a doorway, then you up some stairs. So they can be difficult to spot.

You could start a thread in the South West forum?

I think Kalidarkone went somewhere to get hers done, but it's a bit off the beaten track (i.e. bus route). There was a Muslim fair recently in the park and I was going to ak about at the stalls, but I didn't go in the end.

I'm not desperate to get it done, I had a good tweezering session a few weeks back and got them into a decent shape that way.
