Had to laugh at conversation I just heard in the gym changing room

'Apparently there was a bomb on a bus too...' etc
*sigh* 'Oh, it's just annoying'

Yup, Londoners... nothing more annoying than messed up transport, eh? :D

Same comment. I've said the same meself that it's all a bit tedious.

Excellent.

I favour bored cynicism over screaming panic any day.

Mr LJo is very happy with the police advice to 'stay where you are'. He is in a very nice pub having an extended lunch.

i'd much rather it were tedious than we were piecing together bits of body. it could be tedious every week for a year and i'd still be happier.

if its a hoax i suggest a trip to gitmo and tell the yanks they murdered some marines .Could just be dodgy detonators sometimes these things just dont work .Aylee makes a good point easy to think about doing stuff which is wrong when stuff like this happens .

You're taking quite a leap there fella...
Maybe. But this thread is about speculation after all. I really can't see this as the work of AQ-groomed suicide terrorists. I'm still sticking with the theory that this is the work of nutters getting kicks out of causing maximum disruption on the back of 7/7.

If I'm wrong I'll eat my words, of course.

Conspiracy theorys yes, deeply flawed ones no. As soon as you've sold the bomb you could arrest them, or just get them as they leave the house.

The person who bought the bombs / explosives isn't always the same person willing to become a suicide bomber by detonating it. This way you get them all & hopefully with no injuries to the public.

Like i said its just one theory amoung many.

Totally unbelievable!!!

What can I say... I think this was only intented to scare people, but I can't understand how anyone could still go ahead with this sort of actions?!?! The muslim community has condemmed this already, and it's totally against Islam! All I can really say at this point is that stay calm and confident.

:(

To be fair we don't know who is behind this set of attempted attacks yet...

yeah but kyser, people can't help but get panicked & irrational.
especially given the time since the last one.

Yeah you can not get panicked and irrational if you aren't anywhere near the incidents.

Look at it from another POV - you're more likely to get hit by a bus or other form of road transport, so if you're worried about random accidents, panic about that, not a bomb going off.

Panic and irrationality are exactly what the idiots want and I, for one, refuse to let it happen.

There seems to be a fair few people who saw the bombers after the explosion but no descriptions of them so far.

yeah i noticed that, everyone seems to have seen the people running, one bloke on the phone to the bbc said he didnt stop him when he ran past him at the ticket barrier because he was carrying two heavy bags (if that was me gravity would take hold as soon as i dropped them).

apart from someone on here suggesting they were white, and one guy i heard saying the guy he saw running was about 17 thats it

Out of interest, were you living in London during the IRA bombs of the 80s and 90s?

Hopefully people don't get so 'panicked and irrational' that they run across a road and get hit by a car.

People need to make a realistic assessment of the risks so they can take sensible decisions. They would do far better to expend more worry about getting across the road safely than start worrying about the microscopic chances of being killed by a terrorist bomb.

This is it, there is no typical-looking terrorist, Islamic or otherwise. Could be anyone.

i dont think i suggested there was a typical looking terrorist  i'm just a bit unclear whether people ahve been told not to describe who they saw on the news.

Exactly - I was on London in the 90s, working in Golden Sq when it seemed that every 2-3 days about half the West End was closed down because of a suspak being left (usually some eejit tourists Xmas shopping and leaving a bag out somewhere  )

Not sure what you're on about TeeJay, but I sense this is carrying on from my initial post on the other thread...

I was living in London in the 90's and been through quite a few security alerts... None of them were real bombs, but the fear that they might have been was real... The disruption caused to the tranport system was real... So what are you on about? I dont' understand the point you are trying to make...
