excel problem, need help.........

:D:D

Thanks for having a look at it anyway!

RIGHT!!!

Don't understand this but I think I have a FIX if nothing else.

*Before doing any of this I would make a copy of the original - I make no guarantees, I offer no refunds :D

Double-click on a cell with the number "1" in it - it has to be a "1".

Click on Copy on the toolbar.

Then highlight all of the cells you want to make SUMmable.

From the Toolbar, choose Edit...PASTE SPECIAL...and choose MULTIPLY (listed in the OPERATION section).

What this does is take a perfectly well formatted "1" and whenever it sees a number, whether it is formatted as a number or not, it multiplies it by 1 and then your totals work...

Ta-da!

:D

Nice one! :)

Quod Erat Demonstrandum...

...and it was only a matter of time before the you that is me thought the same thing and posted it for the me that is you to slam the desk in admiration of the simplicity of it all.

*maybe I overdid the coffee a tad, there.

:p

YES!!

You are a winner

thankyou

Hey well done mate :D

Another way is to add another column (b) and do =a1*1 in cell b1 etc. Brinx did the same thing but with paste special.

Its excel not recognising the numbers as numbers. tis a pain :)

Okay,
I've come across some Visual Basic code inside the attachment that clears out excessive formatting, but no macros listed under Tools?
Do you run any macros within this spreadsheet?

My VBA skills are on a par with my Latin, sadly.
You're right, it's a vba issue.

God knows what that work around does :)
