riot sky said:I know what you're saying and it is better than it used to be since the NE is a strong labour ground, they've pumped millions into Newcastle, where as Northumberland is either Tory in Morpeth or Libdem in the rural communities. Alan Beith!
It is a cliche but Northumberland 'clips your wings', dude. Why did I move down south five years ago? Because I was sick of the NE and the prospect of working in the public sector or for local government. I still love Northumberland, more than any other county - it isn't stuffed full of tourists yet and as you said the beaches are probably the best in England. I never took advantage of it or appreciated it because it was there all the time, bit like living at a theme park... you've slides, rollercoasters and candyfloss, but when it is there on your door stop each day.
I probably had a better / safer childhood than many kids living in cities. I could swim in rivers, make dens or go stomping around the countryside, but when you've grown past that, there's very little else to do in Northumberland. Beautiful part of the country for two reasons: It looks beautiful and its rural; that does not make it a good place for to live, for me anyway.
I was talking to a lass at a party on Saturday night, she was born and bred in London. Had only been abroad to holiday resorts but never really left London. She loved the idea of the countryside, the romanticism of rivers, fields and huge open space with no one around. I miss that - I miss it enough to remember it with fondness but do I ever want to go back... pfft?
Went to Portsmouth last Wednesday for the day to see Char' - it seemed very quiet after living in London.
I've rambled on a bit, sorry![]()

I'm just crossing everything that it runs well and is a good day for all![]()
I get in at ten to one in the morning on saturday, freespirit - probably too late for the gig you're working on. Are you working on the festival too???

wasn't there supposed to be one (an organised 'proper' one) near morpeth this year, the south end, towards newcastle.

riot sky said:Well they always fuck it up, look at the love parade - they seemed to forget that people may drive to the city ffs.
it wasn't the most heart warming thing i have read in the gazette, the usual bollocks of 'ravers descend on tranquil village' and the usual mention of drugs and mess, so no, they never said the beach was cleaner. Just mentioned there was complaints and police were called.
but have you ever read the northumberland gazette? my old man was in it when kids nicked the garden gate FFS.
