Just for once I agree. The Charity Commission are about as good at policing charities as a Dobermann would be policing a mountain of fillet steak. Added to that they're so slow at taking action the make the Law Society (notorious for taking forever to investigate their members) look like they're on speed.

Probably not, but having first-hand experience of how useless the Charity Commission is, I'd find it hard to make a case for them being anything but the useless wankers they are. I can understand why many small groups that do good work don't bother with them and forgo charitable status; what you gain from the tax position you lose from the hassle and the restrictions the CC impose.
