As much as I dont care for this show, take out the top rated mainstream sitcoms (friends etc) and this is a fuck lot better than the comptition. I'm thinkin of Two guys and a girl, Becker that sort of shite. Stuff that seriously insults your intelligance.
Tis a sad state of affairs out there.

Actually I'd much rather have Becker than Raymond (though the former is still crap).

Let's face it, the immense majority of sitcoms are utter fucking predictable unfunny rubbish. Top of my head (and from the girlfriend's relentless viewing of such channels as abc1 and Paramount Comedy): Roseanne, Mad About You, King of Queens, Hope and Glory, Home Improvement, The Golden Girls, 8 Simple Rules, Less Than Perfect, Rodney, Ellen... all deeply unfunny, formulistic, boring, predictable shite.

I actually think it's quite good. Not all the time, but sometimes. Ray and wife are the weakest characters by far. The best episodes are the ones with the mum and dad.

Obviously not a patch on comedy gold like Frasier.
