Ever Wonder What Rappers Are Going On About

since when has plan b been grime? or any good for that matter but he danm sure ain't grime.

Have you heard Cap Back? Why does it feature on a grime compilation? His album might veer away from grime, but he's done several grime tunes.

sting has done a hip hop tune,(puffy remix of roxanne) doesn't make him hip hop.

and people who put together compilations know fuck all at the best of times.

kano and lethel bizzle are about the only two people i can think of who do both grime and hip hop about evenly. and i'm prettu sure kano is a lot better lyricllly(as is plan b to be fair) then being called a grime artist.

I don't think I've ever listened to enough of a rap track to wonder what the lyrics are.

Poor excuse for a musical genre.

Sting didn't do that tune, he wrote the original. That doesn't mean he's done a rap tune.

People who put Run the Road together are grime artists iirc.

Why do you think being called a grime artists equates a lack of lyrical talent?!

probably because for every Kano, Dizzee or JME, there are 20 of the kind of MCs you hear every night on certain pirates, spitting the same swag bars about other MCs/guns/gash/jacking, etc... I mean, I'm no MC but even I can write a quick 32 bars (see my clash thread lol), and I have no lyrical talent whatsoever. :)

isn't that true of hiphop too though?

"I got five on it" What's that mean then?

dunno danm fine tune though!

and chris i just don't find roll deep,(especilly roll deep) dizzie or wiley very lyriclly good. If h.dot wants to tell me that they ain't typical and there are some good lyricsts knocking about then fair enough, but kano is the best of the bunch i've seen so far but he has definate hip hop leanings and very few grimey tracks on his album.

Roll Deep (including Wiley) are big on the production side, but lyrically they aren't that special at all.

It's a shame... grime could be so political and MCs could chat about doing something positive about the problems in the ends, but it's so much easier (and probably sells more) to just talk about stealing someone's chain behind your block of flats.

off the top of my head? hmm... Dizzee, Kano, JME, Shystie, Ghetto, Dogzilla, Devlin, Syer B, J2K, Doctor, probably a few more.

there are other MCs I rate (like Skepta) but his bars aren't really that good, it's all about his flow.

Absolute rubbish.

Hip hop is the culture, including the graffiti and the dancing, rap is part of the music, along with electro.

You know fuck all about rap Garfield Le Twat - you've proved that time and again.

EDIT: Here's a thought - I could always slap a few examples of your "rapping" up online, so people could make their own minds up.

Because if you ask me - you are to rap music what 2Unlimited is to techno.

You're a fucking joke, kid, and there cannot be anyone alive who takes a flakey little cunt like you seriously. I know I don't.

Keep this up though, we're bound to meet soon, and we can have a quiet little chat about it.

Rhwuaugh?

Ignore him, he thinks he's some kind of authority on rap, when all he's ever achieved is some kind of weak shouty Rage Against The Machine meets Evanescance effort with no flow and a shit female vocalist.

I've no idea what this is all about but you really should know better than to post up people's real names.

Likewise, pk should know it's not on to piss about with people's user names, so can everyone play nice now please?

Funny thing is, I wasn't continuing whatever "feud" he seems to think exists, he knows I know he's a twat and that's the end of it.

I was merely correcting his remedial grasp of a culture he claims to be part of.

But he's the hip hop arab, and he's rapping for his oppressed brothers and sisters, I'm sure...

:D

Have to say i always though hip hop was the entire culture thing(5 tings, graffhei, beat boxing, rapping, b-boys, djs) and rapping was just something to be done over a beat.(or accapella if dj yella can't be arsed!)
mcs= krs one, talib kwelli, eminem, llcollj, method man etc etc etc etc
rappers = jay- z, puffy, dr dre, mike shinoda(fort minor, although im starting to belive he could be an mc), ja rule, any boy band fuck who wants to rap.

oh and loud i got grafs demo thingy if yo want a lsiten. Its not hip hop in the slightest though its bascily a dance(as in leftfieldy, faithlessy type stuff) album with a well good female vocalist(sorry pk shes the shit) and garf doing the odd bit of rapping/singing over it, its really not zak de la rocha ish at all though. Thier vesrion of changes is cool as well as a druggy one.

dave

rappers = jay- z, puffy, dr dre,
I would say Puffy and certainly Dre are more feted for their production nous. Dre has been producing awesome beats for nearly 20 years but his MCing has never been that red hot. "The Chronic" is still an all time classic though.
