It is some tent and yes, all i am adding this year is a fridge and a generator and lights and air con. :)

That was a brilliant tent. Still think mine's the best tent ever apart from the bear thing of course.

Maybe firky could sleep up there?

It is nice to have a tent that a lanky bastard like me can stand up in. :)

The summer was so shit last year that decent camping stuff was enormously discounted. :)

I confess to going to a friends house on two of the four nights last year , he lives about an hours walk away but his wife came and picked us up , its not the going to bed in the shitty mud we couldnt handle it was the waking up , having a shower and dry clothes to put on was a real plus.

If I had the money yeh, why not :)

Clean bed, stove in the middle of your yurt. Heaven! :D

I do have an airbed, king size sleeping bag and take pillows though so I reckon I'm ok in my tent. :)

Has anyone ever hired one of those tipis you get with a carpet and everything in or the little sheds you get with a fridge, locker and stuff? Would be ace to do but I don't think its for me, I'd feel ostentatious.
Never done it before, maybe one day eh :)

The most luxurious we've been is a massive double airbed :o it's ace.

A van one day and I'll be a happy lady

I really want to try out those little beach hut things they set up for you at some festivals. I don't think I've ever qualified as posh in the camping department at a festival. Had a gazebo last year though, which was nice.

We hired a tipi at glasto last year. We did it through a private company who kindly pitched it in the bottom of Dragon field. It was fantastic - I love tipis and it was great to stay in one - eventually I'd like to get one of my own and put it up in the garden, but where I live at the moment isn't very tipi-friendly. The tipi was lovely and cosy with loads of rugs and cushions and I bought loads of fairy lights and candles to make it all pretty inside. If I was rich I would hire one again this year, but sadly I'm not so I'll be in my tent this year. Don't know if I'd like to be up in the new tipi field - the tipis seem quite segregated from the main festival to me.

They look like wendy houses for munters.

I never knew that Banksy wasn't involved in Glastonbury until Emily Eavis invited him. Anyone got more info on that?

WANT!!! :D

Four of us hired a tipi at Glastonbury in 2004. It was ace

Was a mates idea as his missus was about 7 months preggers and they didn't want the usual hike from the campervan field to the good stuff.

So i looked around and discovered we really couldn't afford it, until i had a look on ebay where i saw 'buy it now' ones for £500, which was still a bit steep for me...

So i went for the auction rather than the buy it now and got one for about £340

When we got there the bloke told us not to tell the neighbours how cheap we'd got ours as the other 3 tipis had gone for the buy it now price and i was the only one who'd stuck it out and won an auction one...

He said we'd got the cheapest hire tipi at Glastonbury that year

Couldn't have done it at the usual prices, but totally made the most of that year as i knew it was a one off and we wouldn't be able to get one that cheap ever again.

We had such a great time. Lost Vagueness was next door and still good then. We decided on a whim to get married in the tipi field and didn't really venture anywhere else for the whole festie.

I've got a vivid memory of it raining outside and me coming back from the loo and sticking my booted feet over the fire indoors and watching the steam coming off them and just smiling happy and contented while listening to tunes wafting over from LV,

I'd do it again in a flash if i had the money, but i'm not too keen on the fact that last year there was a whole field of tipis like some middle class tipi housing estate or something and the real tipi field that i stayed in (which i've always considered is the heart of the festival) is being moved this year anyway :(

nah, campings half the fun innit? get yourself some decent camping gear and you can be all luxurious neway...

Small wendy house too! I could not fit for instance.

They're made for people of a 'normal' height :p

How do your green credentials sit with getting a bus like that though?!

I love how "eco friendly" hippies always drive the oldest, most polluting things on the road ;) :p :D

haha

Totally!

when my missus worked for a record company one year we went to Glastonbury and stayed in a beautiful farm house near Frome with a river running through the garden - all paid for

about an hour after arriving Gwen Stefani turns up with a girl from the record label and it was just the 4 of us for 3 days until the Sunday when the band and tour bus pulled up to pick her up. very weird time

best bit was being chauffeur driven on to the site so Gwen could surprise her Gavin from Bush. when the bloke on the gate asked for her pass the driver just said "her face is the ticket", the gate man then popped his head through the window to take a look and despite clearly being none the wiser to who she was waved us through :D

At Reading festival one year we discovered a skip full of furniture while getting lost on the way back from a beer run. A spot of carrying and smuggling-past-security later and we had set up an outdoor living room for our camp site; including a sofa, some comfy chairs and, needless to say, a drinks cabinet
