Euskadi VS Wales

and I never said speaking the welsh language in itself was reactionary at all, thank you very much!

However it can't be denied that the Welsh language is something of a political football for nationalist muppets, and that in trying to engineer it back into most peoples daily lives will never work. Look at the republic of Ireland, the more it pushed the Irish language the more it has collapsed.

Oh like who cares abunch of cunts waving their petty lil nationalist creditionals at a football match.

Well generally it goes like this (based on 4 trips to different countries with Wales ). You go along , look around at the sites, speak to the locals, have a drink with the, try and chat up the women, they wave their flags around and sing , we wave ours around and sing. Good time all round, come back with a souvenir scarf or something.

Making friends through nationalism and reducing sterotypes because you've been there and met people ( like who would have thought the Germans were agreat laugh ?)

Arugably it's much better with "petty nationalisms" because there's nothing at stake and nobody's expecting the prove they're the best in the world. Whereas the atmosphere around, say, England v Germany is enormously unpleasant.

And generally it goes like that when travelling away to watch England. Based on my experiences.

no don't you get it, english fans waving their flags are jingoistic bootboys, but when the Basques or Welsh do the same it's peppy underdog spirit.

Just out of curiosity, how well do you think you're furthering your political ideals by pissing all over a thread like this with your dour, self righteous bollocks?

the basque and the welsh never went to war against each other and have no history of hatred or invading other people land to colonise them and subject them to their rule. in fact, quite the opposite.

What does that have to do with anything?

Is this in reference to me? If so I dont think I have said that anywhere mate? I wouldnt actually say the Basques are 'underdogs' they actually have quite a good team id love Del Horno, Etxeberria, Alonso and Garcia to be honest. Many play for top premiership sides and La Liga sides like Ossasuna and Athletic(maybe not this season :( ) they are hardly underdogs in any sense and certainly not the equivelant of 'Scunthorpe playing Huddersfield'. Players like Arteta etc are all elegible to play also.

Shouldn't the thread title be "Euskadi v Cymru"? Or are the Welsh not as cool as the Basques?

I guess it was done that way deliberately so as not to confuse the English!

I hope it's nill nill draw, would be a perfect metaphor for the futility pf provencial nationalisms.
So says the Annakissed slightly Oranged Bookshopped student waiting on his real job.

Whats the froth about this?
From the usual twats Fanta and Revo.

Not sure about that, isn't it just tribalism but on a national scale?

exactly, I still can't understand what revol68 was on with his "petty nationalism".

Lesson 235 on how a Leftist group can alienate the working class they claim to represent: condemn them for daring to enjoy a sport because the way that the teams are organised offends their delicate leftie sensibilities.

actaully if you bothered to read my posts instead of responding to the wee sweety men talking in your head, you'd know I have fuck all problem with people supporting their national side and having a laugh (see any of my posts complaining about self hating english wiberals who refuse to support England on political grounds).

My post was more context dependent, namely cathal marcs, who is a wee armchair republican nationalist twat and hence his oh soo keen interest in the Basque national side sets of a whole chain of political signifiers.

I mean fucksake this thread is the equivalent to an anarchist one about dogs on strings, just another fucking cliched pseudo left nationalist getting a hard on for romantic nations.

and if you had a clue about my politics who'd know I'd rather watch Rangers win the European cup than claim to represent the working class.

Yeah sorry, you've got him entirely the wrong way round. In his own inimicable way what he does is take the piss out of lefties who support "oppressed" "nations'" teams on "political" grounds.

Was I quoting your post?

Looking forward to your apology.

Are you a one-man 'Leftist group' then?

are u honestly trying to claim your post wasn't in response to me?

Well, if it wasn't then it was the equivalent of a fart at the opera. What was it then just some sort of unfunny internet tourettes?
