Arugably it's much better with "petty nationalisms" because there's nothing at stake and nobody's expecting the prove they're the best in the world. Whereas the atmosphere around, say, England v Germany is enormously unpleasant.

the basque and the welsh never went to war against each other and have no history of hatred or invading other people land to colonise them and subject them to their rule. in fact, quite the opposite.

Is this in reference to me? If so I dont think I have said that anywhere mate? I wouldnt actually say the Basques are 'underdogs' they actually have quite a good team id love Del Horno, Etxeberria, Alonso and Garcia to be honest. Many play for top premiership sides and La Liga sides like Ossasuna and Athletic(maybe not this season
) they are hardly underdogs in any sense and certainly not the equivelant of 'Scunthorpe playing Huddersfield'. Players like Arteta etc are all elegible to play also.Harold Hill said:
