Eurovision 2006: the Finnish entry

Sunspots

what's my mission now?...
Not sure if this has already been mentioned here, but...

Although I'd never normally dream of watching Eurovision, I'll definitely be tuning in to see this lot:

Lordi will represent Finland in Eurovision Song Contest 2006 in May.

Win or lose, it'll be a surreal moment. :D

I ** the Finns.

fan-fucking-tastic :D

Yes, a whole nation has voted to be represented by the equivalent of GWAR.

Surely, it's only a matter of weeks before all of Europe bows down before Lordi's cloven hooves... :D

quick question - how shit are they? :D

I've never actually heard them, but I really don't care.

If they do sound any good, that'll just be the icing on the cake for me.

:D

I'm glad you put a link to it cause otherwise I would've thought you were taking the piss. This has to be watched :D.

When I originally heard they'd made the shortlist to represent Finland, I too thought it must be a big wind-up at first. -BUT NO!!! :D

Now, I've been to Finland, and it's certainly not the case that everybody's dressing up as Orc warriors and burning down churches at the weekend (;)), so I can't help but hope that this year's choice by the Finnish public is driven by some collective urge to just be wonderfully mischievous.

is death metal ever anything other than utter utter shit?
</generalisation>

:D

To be fair though, I imagine that they're sound is probably more like 'heavy rock' than any kind of death/doom metal.

Anyway, I don't care whether they sound any good. Even if they're shit, I'm sure there'll be far worse acts on Eurovision. Lordi are going to stand out a mile, and will offer a welcome breath of ...er... fresh air to the evening's proceedings. :)

My god! it's hotting up. Have you seen the German entry?

Nice shirts on the Germans. :D

The UK's entry ('Daz Sampson') looks like some kind of Streets-lite 21st century Baggy Trousers: http://www.eurovision.tv/english/601.htm.

Good to see they've not decided to rely on using sexy schoolgirls or anything though.

-Oh...

and they're REAL schoolgirls.

the lyrics are astonishing. he's an ex-crim druguser turned Christian rapper.

Lordi must DESTROY him

Lyrics - Teenage Life

Now hear this

"What did you learn at school today?"
That's what the teachers used to say
But they don't know
Don't understand, do they
Why do they always give advice
Saying "Just be nice, always think twice"
When it's been a long since they had a teenage life

"What did you learn at school today?"
That's what the teachers used to say
But they don't know
Don't understand, do they
Why do they always give advice
Saying "Just be nice, always think twice"
When it's been a long time since they had a teenage life

Dwelling on the past, from back when I was young
Thinking of my school days and trying to write this song
Classroom schemes and dreams
Man they couldn't save me
Cos my days were numbered when I signed down on Avy
Teenage kicks running out what could we do
I still show respect to my boys who made it through
And getting told off Mr T how my life would be
Then giving him a signal
So everyone could see
Sunshine and shade
Those girls I'd serenade
Thinking of those sixth form chicks that misbehave
Hoping that those days would go on and on forever
Every day something new
Just friends running together
But suddenly school ends
Your teenage life gone
All your mates are growing up now
They're moving on
And now I'm looking back
I'll tell you what I know
Do you listen to your teacher?
No I don't think so

"What did you learn at school today?"
That's what the teachers used to say
But they don't know
Don't understand
Do they
Why do they always give advice
Saying "Just be nice, always think twice"
When it's been a long time since they had a teenage life

Now if you treat the kids fine, together they will shine
Ooh ooh ooh shine
And if you give the kids time, they won't do the crime
Won't do the crime

Now my bad old ways
Were during my school days
Messing on those grade A's
My life is just a haze
I'm going through the struggle
Five ten and kicking back
So I could lock my flow
Lace it up now on the track
Oh yeh I felt the pain
Whilst chasing all the fame
I'm being told I'm nothing
Just a player in the game
But now I walk tall
Stand proud for you to see
I'm driving these fast cars
It's five stars for me

"What did you learn at school today?"
That's what the teachers used to say
But they don't know
Don't understand, do they?
Why do they always give advice
Saying "Just be nice, always think twice"
When it's been a long since they had a teenage life

cunt.

how long till it's on actually?
Semi-Final on 18th May, Final on 20th.

Finland have already got one of my votes, don't give a shite what they sound like. And the Germans often have a good entry, like the rap a few years back ("Wade Hade Doode Da" or something?) and the guy who climbed the scenery.

aceness.... i never thought i'd actually bother to watch it but the drugs in the water supply plan seems to have worked.
