Missed the match. Just caught a glimpse of the shoot out on Dutch tv this morning. That must have been nerve racking to watch.

Taylor, milner, reo-coker, baines, carson should all make the cut fairly soon i reckon. anton ferdinand should have the odd cap as well. Nobkle might make it but who knows.

I reckon the strikers are the weak link in the current u21a. At least untill derbyshire does a bit more.

But as with all U21 teams of the past, just becasue they're decent now doesn't mean in 3 years they'll be taking England to WC glory!

Baines looks handy, but Nugent is totally unproven at the top level, Milner's been okay but he's not international class. Unless England want to continue their usual form at competitions, then blame the foreign infux

Bentley is the one most likely to break through (after Noble) and he dropped out precisely because he wanted to make euro 2008, which he should do, as he's our best RM after Beckham right now.

Noble could be a surprise inclusion in euro 2008 squad (if we qualify)

Sorry for the massive thread bump, but I watched Sweden-England earlier in this year's tournament. It was a fairly drab game which England nicked in a most un-England-like way, getting the only goal five minutes from time. Jenkinson and Garbutt were good at full back and Loftus-Cheek looked assured when he came on, but there was a lack of invention, especially when Pritchard went off injured.

Of course it'll be interesting to see how many of this bunch go on from here. Looking at the above posts from eight years ago, only Milner and Baines have really made it to the upper echelons, the former only as a utility player.

Probably worth starting a new thread for this tournament, I was thinking about it, but I couldn't be arsed.

It's a shame it's on BT Sport, probably has much less viewers as a result.
