I saw Etta about 12 years ago.
She'd got pretty damn big at the time and sang from a throne centre stage in the manner of Solomon Burke these days.
I knew I wasn't gonna get young Etta doing chess stuff but it still took a while to sink in
- most of the stuff she did was very bluesy, a pretty gentle pace but her voice was still huge.
'I'd rather go blind' was awesome. I was quite drunk.

I heard her first time on the radio doing some brilliant coked up late seventies stuff. Never managed to find that track again, but no matter, she's awesome. Loving arms I can't get enough off.
