Yup, from Eloisa to Abelard:
How happy is the blameless Vestal's lot!
The world forgetting, by the world forgot.
Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind!
Each pray'r accepted, and each wish resign'd.

i saw it at the cameo cinema in edinburgh.
great cinema as they allow you to take your pint from the bar into the auditorium. very comfy and they had a few sketches from Chris Morris' My Wrongs No:73729 before the film which was bizarre but funny as well. wish there were more cinemas like it

It was great until the end, which is when it was terribly anticlimactic imo.

Though not to be a complete downer, I loved the quirky relationship between Carrey and Winslet and it happens to have one of my all time favourite film quotes;

"I'm not a concept. Too many guys think I'm a concept or I complete them or I'm going to make them alive, but I'm just a fucked up girl who is looking for my own peace of mind"

Reading this thread makes me question my dislike for the film, maybe there's more to it than I could see at the time. The test of any great film is whether it can be seen multiple times...

A highly original, inventive and searingly insightful picture - it says so much about the minutae of the psyche in emotionally fucked up times and, as such, moved me a lot. It almost felt as if it might have been filmed inside my head while I was on halluciogenics...

Can I say I just found it boring and the characters really dislikable?

I didn't hate it but I would have been pissed off if I had paid to have seen it.

I felt the same first time I watched it, couldnt get into it at all.

Just watched it again though and loved it. Mind you have just split from partner of six years, so it did hit a raw nerve or two .

Glad i bought those extra tissues now tho... @self

I did and I was.

Watched it for the first time after it being receomended to me on hear and it enjoyed it a lot, plenty of food for thought, and by far the best riole I've seen Carey in.

annoying!??
it's a fantastic film.. beautiful!
yes. beautiful and annoying :p
I would never say it's a bad film - it's innovative and interesting compared to most hollywood stuff - but I hated the characters and found it too sentimental I think.

One of the best movies of the last 10 years IMO - everything about it is the complete opposite of what 'Hollywood' is supposed to produce:

It's got a wildly off beam story, convincingly structured and acted characters, a sub-plot that actually ties into and reflects the main story, top-of-form performances from the whole cast and it's probably one of the most romantic stories I've seen. I reckon.

I was hooked from the start and I think maybe for guys if you haven't fallen in love with Clementine by the end of the first 15 minutes - in fact haven't gone through the whole emotional process Joel goes through with her - you're not going to get it. I can't say for women but I would imagine a similar process happens. And I was SO in love with Clementine after the first 2 minutes of her being on-screen...

It's not a "heartbreaking work of staggering genius" but it's an entertaining enough film. I enjoyed it and thought it was a refreshingly different piece of work.

And Kate Winslet looks hot!

I loved Clementine (in a straight kind of way) - It made me want to dye my hair...

surely it's NOT sentimental? the message is actually quite a hard one - that shit happens and it hurts and there's nothing you can do about it but deal and move on and try not to regret, because the alternative is worse. and you just KNOW at the end that the cycle will repeat itself. i don't really see sentimentality there

I love that film. I really like the camera work and the way the dream sequences are cut.

Like PieEye said, it was the first film where the idea killing Jim Carey wasn't upper most in my mind. Has anyone else seen the Cable Guy?

Cable Guy is WELL dark, and another good, non-gurning performance from Carey to match this and Truman Show...
I don't agree, I wanted him beheaded for crimes against celluloid after that one.

Oh this is definitely crap ! No really it is !! Overated tosh of the highest order, anyway it's got Jim Carey in it so it must be crap .. ! :p
