Eritrea

The food's yuck (unless you like pancakes that have been vomited on) but chew lots of khat. Never been there but all the Eritreans I know are lovely people.

Liked for the khat comment though to be honest all the khat I’ve had that used to come into this country before the ban was from Kenya.

and Ethiopia

Hey always nice to come across (I assume) another aficionado. I used to frequent Somalian cafes in Bethnal Green (khat flown into Heathrow on Kenyan airways daily). You?

(There was also, as well as many Somalian cafes, a small stall holder below Edgware Road tube station whose ‘Uncle’ was responsible for all importation btw. I knew him well. ;) ).

I've chewed my way all through London, then slowly up to Glasgow and back again. Made a sport of getting to know all the hang outs.
Picked the habit up in Yemen. I miss it.

Cheese. Interesting. Not a foodstuff I associate with African cuisine.
Yup, I was surprised. Goat and sheep cheese type stuff stirred into stews, and in sort of pita pockets with veg and chilli- it's not called that. Brain not working)

it was a very important part of our life for a few years and I met some true friends because of it.
can't deal with all this dried expensive stuff that's doing the rounds now. it's shit.

Haven’t bothered with it for years. Either fresh off the plane within 24 hours or not at all.

Thought it was funny (no, not really funny) when festival twats started selling it in the 90s for about £5 for three stalks, not fresh, and idiots pretended they were getting off on it.

We should meet in Yemen one day, when shit calms down. :)
