'ere! What's good to listen to these days then? I'm about 3 years out of touch...

Benga up next. Seems a little 'jazzy' based on the first 30 seconds. Will report back after I've given it a full listening.

Oooh, The Cut (by Benga) is more like it. The album is getting better as it goes on. Wouldn't say it's an instant hit with me, seems a little wishy washy. Like he's toned it down for the BBC or something.

I want music that wouldn't be out of place at the end of world... if that makes sense :D Not noisecore or 'just a racket' as tanky might say, just dark, epic, bassy, angry, melancholic, urgent, ethereal sorta stuff.

And don't say hard trance.

If you like that you should also check (if you don't already know)

M.I.A. (Afrikan boy is on her latest album)
Santogold
Count & Sinden
Diplo
Crookers
Detboi
Zombie Disco Squad (mostly dj mixes but they've got a handful of tracks out there too)
Buraka Som Sistema

It's all a bit "worldy,housey,hip hoppy,lairy" if that's your thing.

Cheers :)

I'm into a lot of different things, so will give it all a go. Have enjoyed some Santagold and MIA already.

Cannibal Ox playing now... found Boxcutter a bit noodly.

Haven't downloaded any of your suggestions 'cos I'm at work, I'm not just deliberately ignoring you.

Girltalk=200 some tracks in 60 minutes. Mostly big U.S. rap acapellas on top on 80s hair metal. Crazy bonkers mash up stuff that gets a marmite reaction from most.

@Chris. Stick with Can Ox, it can be a bit dense at first but well worth the effort when it "clicks"

The Girls Talk stuff is OK - it's clever but it's not particularly enjoyable IMO. Once you've been dazzled by his invention, there's not a lot left

Anything with high-pitched resampling of Nothing Compares 2 U is enjoyable. Anything.

I loved it and will listen again. It's like if La Greve Generale did a studio mix with fuck loads of cash.

I disagree, La Greve Generale have a much broader palette and also their stuff isn't so constantly mutating, which gives you time to get into it more.

It's amazing. Especially the second half....I literally close my eyes whereever I am and imagine dancing in a brilliant club to it :D

Oh indeed, LGG mixes are always the first things on my list, but it's nice to hear a similar artist.

You might like Freq nasty, roots manuva, skinnyman........rinse FM do dub podcasts which i download...

I like some urbany stuff...... but im much more into 'nu rave' (indie with keyboards) and acidy style music (at the moment, my tastes change like the wind).

The Klaxons are bearable, but I suspect any other 'nu-rave' would make me feel quite ill. Old skool 'rave' is probably my favourite music, there's no room for new fangled indie/whiny gimp based rave in my life.

Christ I'm bitter.
