...ok so its obviously 80s night on this channel. Personally I think Erasure are great-tunes to shake you arse to and even better to sing along to. However let the Urban judge, jury & executioners decide!

    Crap or not crap?

    great songwriter cruelly wasted imo...

    toss. utter toss.

    andy2002 To the Bat-poles!

Neither crap nor not crap – some of their stuff was alright and that's about it. Considerably less interesting than other '80s synth duos such as Soft Cell, Pet Shop Boys and Vince Clarke's very own Yazoo.

    Dubversion Gorn Enforced Holiday

i've always respected them - a phenomenally successful duo who managed to steer clear of the gossip pages and stuff, just knocked out hit after hit in a really honest and straightforward way. Seemed like nice guys as well.

    Fucking horrible music, obviously :)
  5. Black Flag

    Soft Cell - good.

    Erasure -bad.

One just instinctively knows, old boy. :)

    Soft Cell - good
    Erasure - good :p
    Bronski Beat/Communards/Jimmy Sommerville - good

Oh, I'm noticing a trend here!
  7. Black Flag

I met Jimmy Sommerville in a pub in KX once...another time, perhaps...

Anyone know what he's doing (musically) these days?

Was he fine? I'd like to meet him, he doesn't come across as an uphisownarse type.
  9. Black Flag

He was delightful. Very sweet and self-effacing. And a bit pissed. Lol.

My sister was really into them and so their songs are just in my head....

....I suppose I am fond enough of them.

Not really my cup of tea but catchy tunes.

I remember thinking how amazing it was that Vince Clark managed to replace Alison Moyet with a male singer who had almost exactly the same voice. I still like Yazoo slightly better. Erasure were more poppy, but they had some great tunes. Blue Savannah is my favourite of their's (typically shit 80s promo :D ).

Before and after he hit it big Andy Bell used to be a regular at The Bell in Kings Cross which was my favourite place to go out in the 80s. Chatted to him a couple of times, lovely bloke.
