Epic street battle as private guards try to fine man for dropping cigarette butt

When my rich middle class brother comes round he always leaves his fag butts on our deck.

This now confuses me because if I bring him up on it, am I plastic official puppet of the state?
Shouldn't he be low paid working class to be chucking fags on my deck?
Is he disrespecting me by doing this?

yes

So exactly how far does your benevolence extend? Loan sharks? Bailiffs? Cops?
It extends to anyone doing an unpleasant job that they are forced to do to feed and house themselves and their families. Within capitalism we work or we starve and most jobs that we take are morally compromised; as is the production of the goods and services we are obliged to consume . What do you do and what do you consume? Are you less verminous, less compromised than a litter warden?

With specific reference to the job in question, there is nothing wrong with penalising those who choose to litter the streets. I don't like the fact that the issuing of such penalties is done by private contractors, but that doesn't mean I should vilify those employed to enforce those penalties.

OTOH I never spit chewing gum on the pavement. That, I'd have people shot for.

When I lived in Holland it seemed to be standard to do this - bits of chewed gum all over the pavement outside the railway station. My Dutch gf threw a piece down one time and I reacted so strongly (it just surprised me so much) that I don't think she ever did it again.

I was somewhere (can't remember where) and people had decided to "make art" by entirely covering a tree trunk with pieces of brightly coloured gum. Eww. :(

People might be compelled to work, but your implication that people have absolutely no choice in what line of work to pursue is as absurd as those who say you can do anything you want. Strangely enough the vast majority of people manage to find jobs that don't involve bossing people about and acting as private security in public spaces. So I don't buy the "but they needs to feed their fambilies!" excuse. And it is an excuse. You can't just apply for these kind of jobs because the JobCentre is on your back, and then get lucky at an interview - more often than not you need an SIA licence, and an active choice is required to start and complete the training needed to get such a licence.

I have a problem with issuing fines as a punishment for anything, because in a society with such massive differences in wealth such as ours, it's inherently and viciously unfair. Fuck that and fuck the pricks who enable such heinous shit.

Pretty sure jcp can force you into training if there's jobs available so I think could be made to do the SIA badge and then apply for jobs.
I agree with your post though
