Enter Shikari

not that mixmag is any better, but they conctacted the supposed nu-rave bands and had them actually say 'we have no idea what nu-rave is, the media made it up'.

mixmag also pointed out freeparties never went away when the mainstream press started saying 'they were back' (including some earlier mixmag articles) a few years ago.

Fair play for at least these 2 articles, even if they put fuckingn tiesto on every other cover.

My daughter loves them. I can tolerate them better than some of her other stuff (My Chemical Romance for example *vomit*).

Not something I would choose to listen to, but it doesn't make my ears bleed.

what the fuck is the point of this wilful ignorance? there is NO NU RAVE scene or movement, the only band who got given that label thru and thru were the klaxons and even they shun it. Its just an NME creation. This was exposed a year ago in Mixmag.

ES, being TRANCE and HARDCORE couldn't be nu-rave anyway, as it was meant to be indie with some dance elements. ES are mainly hardcore/emo anyway, they just have some trance synths.

and secondly electroclash?! How? much electroclash have hardcore vocals with screaming, or double kickdrums - or even much live drumming at all?

65days of static are a great band, band yes they have nothing to do with RS, thats a ridiculous comp

Hence I typed it in italics, then spat.

The electroclash comment was to do with the evolution of sounds. Electroclash being punk and dance with the current lot seeking to comercialise it with indie/emo and dance. Just diluting it for the masses.

Anyway, Enter Shikari are shit hardcore spliced with shit trance to produce a shit band. I got half way into the album before I stopped it and that was me holding on to try and give it a fair listen.

If you haven't already given it away, i'll have it.

i have all the tunes but i wouldn't mind knowing iut had the studio versions, some of them sound a bit tinny.

i don't much like them but then i'm hardly their demographic, they sound like a right fucking laugh mind :)

a thumbs up from me, kinda :)

I've heard them, seen them on tv too and thought they were crap. What's with the stupid glowing rings?

absolute crap, my ears were bleeding!

worse still, one of their tunes wouldn't leave my head for ages, it's the work of the devil I tell you!

** holds bible up and sprinkles holy water on the computer/tv **

:D x 10000000000

I agree, they sound absolutely terrible, I first heard their tracks a couple of months back, and I was appalled, but I think my not getting them may be a generation thing. :o

It's difficult to discern whether they are just genuinely crap (like lots of bands that sound crap) or groundbreakingly crap (like the Sex Pistols, for example).

Bands that have extreme reactions to them are usually either genuinely crap or brilliant. I don't know what they are though. I'm too old. ;)

I guess we'll only know the answer to that in 10 years time when people are either still listening to them, or going 'Shikari who?'

What a stack of shit.

No no, they are shite.

Sunscreem, The Prodigy...both did the rawk/dance xover thing with far more aplomb. This, as someone points out above, just sounds like Linkin Park with a trance loop over the top of it...

IS their name some kind of play on shagging Shakira? 'Enter Shikari'?

I mean you'd be gutted if you went out expecting to see this:

Spotty herberts.

I mean you'd be crying into your soup...

ha ha all you guys saying how shit they are sound so OLD!!
(ps i have never even heard them so i sound older.)

Innit, anyone who can remember Rave the first time round should be with me over on the Fleetwood Mac thread not hanging round with the young people like the dodgy 35 year old at the Youth Club disco :p

I'm 26, I just have an exquisite musical palate :p The album is shit, I could see it being fun live but that doesnt make it good.

I checked them out on myspace just to see what the fuss was about. They were even worse than I expected! :( And im really not that old...

Still younger than you :p It seems my brain just developed quicker than yours :D
gah, well, i would probably think they were shit if i heard them. i haven't bought any music made after 1979 for quite a long time.

Listening to some now....

It's not my bag but if I was 15 I'd so be there :D I bet they're a laugh live - sound like noisy little bastards.

Huge thread revival. Stumbled across this. They've come along way

It's kinda thrashcore-the streets-dnb-arctic monkeys but they really pull it off.
