The Facebook group is now advertising a further “meeting” in Birmingham on August 8 at 6pm.

I think you're spot on that they'll get suffocated by the state, they had no chance of replicating their Luton madness in Birmingham, the police were all over the city and all over them. Fascists with no other plan are buzzing around them. I would imagine the BNP want nothing to do with this apart from perhaps picking up members and even that's questionable.

For all the bullshit coming out of EDL (and March for England for that matter) that they aren't racists is just a ploy for them not to be targetted by anti-fascists. In fact some anarchists have taken a cautious approach towards them for the reason that anti-islamism is not a racist position. However it is important to note that the reformation of fascism is reflective of a contemporary context whereby popular notions of the defence of freedoms and liberties can be recuperated to build authoritarian movements. There is NOTHING which distinguishes the politics of the BNP and white nationalism and the most extreme forms of islamism. They represent the same threat to progressive and self-organised tendencies of the working class. In the same way that the Islamic Republic of Iran has posed itself against the interests of the working class, the BNP's ethno-nationalism christianity poses a similar threat.

It is our role as anti-fascists of the revolutionary sense to educate ourselves on the underlining strategies of our enemies, seen as a potential vehicle for regeneration by certain sections of the ruling class, and prepare ourselves for increasing confrontation. This can be only done from within our class, as part of a class action.

The far right group responsible for Saturday’s demo against Islamic extremism in Birmingham has revealed its opposition to all Muslims practising their faith in Britain. In an interview with Stirrer editor Adrian Goldberg on Talksport last night, spokesman Paul Ray also admitted their links with the BNP.

As we revealed yesterday, the protest was organised by the English (and Welsh) Defence League.

Despite the group’s claim to be non-political, it’s emerged on Indymedia that their website was set up by Chris Renton, a BNP activist who lives in Weston-super-Mare.

Scotland Yard's counter-terrorism command fears the extreme right will stage a deadly terrorist attack in Britain to try to stoke racial tensions, the Guardian has learned.

Senior officers fear the attack will be a "spectacular" that is designed to kill people. The counter-terrorism unit has moved officers to beef up its monitoring of the extreme right's potential to stage attacks.

Commander Shaun Sawyer told a meeting of British Muslims concerned about the danger posed to their communities that police were responding to the growing threat.
