Woking leading Bury at ht too.
Bloody hell; my best friend is Irish*, so I've got skin in the game by proxy. COYBIG!
*well, her parents are both Irish and she claims it - point of contention over the 20 years we've known each other
For a second I thought our forwards were doing a better job of pressing the Brazilian defense on the edge of their box. Then I realised it was Kyle Walker.
Lingard has seemed a bit surplus but I suppose it's a midfield mismatch
Woking two up! No joy for Guiseley though, down to ten men and trailing
Since I slagged him Lingard been in some better moves Guiseley had a pen too.
Not as entertaining a 0-0 as the Germany game was, but we didn't embarrass ourselves and good to see Southgate giving the squad a fair shake, several may have inched closer to the plane after these two games (Loftus Cheek, Maguire and Gomez in particular).
Solanke nearly had a story for the grandkids at the end there, unfortunate he couldn't bring the ball under control quick enough.
Tammy Abraham looks out of his depth at this level though, maybe one or two more friendlies left for him to make any sort of impact, we're not really struggling for striking options so chances are he'll miss out unless he has a blistering rest of the season.
Stars for Pickford and Rashford in tonight's friendly against the Dutch
22 years ago ( ) Alan Shearer had scored by now
rashford has been meh. get welbeck on.
yes. welbeck coming on.
Yep, he was great against Liverpool but his forms is way off. Don't know whether it's a confidence thing or a Mourinho thing?
Good performance and result, Pickford looks very assured, Stones played really well and Lingard took his goal smartly too.
Shame about the usual knobhead minority of fans who can't handle their alcohol or general human decency.
it is amsterdam after all- was it carnage on OZA after the game ?
England XI: Butland, Walker, Stones, Tarkowski, Trippier, Dier, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lingard, Young, Sterling, Vardy
Bit disappointed not to see Rashford get another start, but hopefully that's good news for him.
Young starting is interesting. Trying to work out the formation from the line up but not sure.
Always good to see new players getting a chance to show their stuff, so nice to see Tarkowski in there (even though all I know about him is he's a Burnley defender ).
Clever (and well taken) goal that
And we look far better at the mo
We must be the favourites for the World Cup now.
It's coming home kids. You heard it here first.
I never stopped believing...
I never started. It's better that way
Gah, Sterling turns into an Italian defender rather than playing the easy drop off to Trippier
That shit really pisses me off. If there's nothing on except an easy pass, keep possession with the pass and try again, rather than trying to force something and losing possession instead
To be fair, Sterling taking a risk and running at them is why we're ahead.
The constant back passing is 'good' football but not particularly interesting to watch.
Each to their own on that last point, I think. I'm always a big fan of the patient passing build up. But then, I see shooting as a waste of possession
Taking risks and making runs is all good, but you've got to play percentages. So many times possession is lost because players try to force the issue and lack patience.
England must be one of the most in form teams in international football which certainly makes them one of the favourites
See, I'm a big fan of Rashford but again, ran into three Italians rather than passing to one of three teammates and keeping the move going.
Pah, I say. Pah!
I'd rather see rashford run at 3 Italian defenders 100 times than see him pass it back to Jordan Henderson once
Fair enough, but we'd score fewer goals your way.
Bit of an odd one that.
The slow and patient build up hasn't exactly paid out dividends for us in tournament football recently
Italy with a get out of jail penalty, still satisfied with the way we've played mostly.
