England Vs. the Windies home test series

He's about as far from ordinary as a bowler can get.

Never really rated him as a batsman mind.
Agreed. He's always been a bowling allrounder – his batting technique against spinners has always been particularly painful to watch.

But to think him an ordinary bowler is, well, not to be looking properly at what he does.

I know plenty about cricket, thanks. Flintoff is overrated, and England are shit at both T20 and ODIs. Only one of those is remotely controversial, and even then not much. It seems most people nowadays accept that Flintoff is pretty ordinary.
So you're an Aussie are you? Remind me what happened in the last ODI series England played in Australia, I seem to have forgotten. The ODI record has been improving a bit recently, even as the test side has been going down the swanee.

South African.

As for Freddie: Here's one. I suppose it's just my impression that more and more people are saying that Flintoff actually isn't that good.

Check out his recent record sometime. Not even close to the record of a top bowler. And don't get me started on his "batting"...

Disclaimer: He can be, and has been in the past, absolutely brilliant. He's not so nearly often enough however.

You're South African and you're accusing England of being crap in ODIs? The team who beat South Africa 4-0 in the ODI series last Summer? If so, what does that say about the Proteas? England are inconsistent yes, but hardly that bad.

As for Flintoff, I think his problem is more injury than anything else. His batting technique is certainly frailer than one would like for someone playing in the middle order, but on the rare occasions when he's actually fit, his bowling is still excellent.

Discordia's gone quiet, probably practicing his country's national sport of choking :)

Woakes ended up with 6-for, Lions got in a spot of trouble at 116/6 but Tim Ambrose and Adil Rashid are piling on the runs now :)

Toss in ten minutes. According to Botham, the pitch looks as though it should be a pretty good test pitch.

By 'good' does he mean liable to produce a decent game, or be flat as a pancake for five days and produce 1500 runs and 11 wickets?

I would quite like to see England bowl first, although I doubt they would pick that if they win the toss.

It strikes me that it might be hard to predict how this England team will play, what with two debutants plus Bopara with not that many tests under his belt.
