My mum has an interesting theory: she thinks that perhaps Capello is currently picking all the players people think 'should' play, to show them up as being a bit useless, so then when he picks a whole new team people are more likely to think "fair enough, can't be worse than the last lot".

Does Frank Lampard have some dirt on every single manager working in English football? He's so clearly, as he's proved many times, nowhere near international class. He represents the vast gap between success in the English domestic game and that the international game. Yet they continue to pick him.

England are screwed for a variety of reasons. The rot really does start at the top though with the FA and premier league both of which are ruled by incompetents (Barwick as was) or corporate schills (Scudamore). They care far more for making money than winning games and don't give two shits about the fans. By the look of the last few years the players really don't care either. They'd rather be playing the 39th game out in Qatar than turning out for England. They are a bunch of over indulged, over paid, over rated numb skulls and if Capello had any balls he'd drop most of the so called "golden generation" and pick players for whom playing for the national side might actually mean something.

OTM. How many of the current crop have really performed on the international stage in tournaments? Ferdinand, Neville, Rooney and Owen are only ones I can think of, and two of those date from over ten years ago.
