England vs Czech Republic

Sod being fat, he's consitently underperformed for England, unbalanced the side and taken up a place that could be taken by someone who would, quite frankly, simply be more useful and productive.

Some of us have been saying this for a while ;). It's so obvious it makes you wonder how those highly skilled international football managers can't see it. :D

Compare our Olympians working their socks off and getting medals to this lot getting paid more in a week than the rest of us earn in a year.

I wonder if the glamour models and jiggy boys are going to go chasing after the medal winners before selling their stories to Rah! magazine or whether it will be business as usual for Glamour Girl Gail and Ding Dong Dangerman Deon and the tails of the latter scoring off the pitch as well as on it.

But what has annoyed me for many years is the visual lack of commitment from players as well as some basic failings of skills and technique. For the amount of money that they are on, the fans deserve better.

I don't think we have forgotten czechs are good, but the general feeling is the england management keep getting the selection wrong, Gerrard on left wing, lampard selected again doing fuck all, i mean, if we got the selection right we could atleast be having a proper go at teams like the czechs. We make them look better than they're.

I'd like to see more of the England players stand up and be counted for individual crap performances. McClaren rightly carried the can for failing to qualify, but for individual poor performances I'd like to see a little bit more humility - and comments in the press conferences rather than players stumbling out of Piccarahrahs Niteclub on a Tuesday night.

Believe me, I've been amongst those saying it for a while, which is why it's so damn infuriating

Exactly. I generally think we shouldn't really look at the opposition when assessing a match, we should just look at our own performance - how we applied ourselves, how our tactics and game worked, etc. And too often we are lacking, regardless of our opponents.

Wow, just heard Capellos interview after the match, never heard so much shit come from an England manager after a game. He seems more deluded than Mcclaren.

I think these so called 'Superstars' who seem to have lost the will to win have had enough chances.
Drop the lot, accept that we will more than likely fail to reach the world cup and pick the England squad from the Championship and down.
We may not have the most skillful team but at least we would have tryers ffs!!

You have to be hungry to succeed and these prima donas are fat on their own egos.

English football is still full of the self delusion that saturated British sport in the 1990s.

Rip it up and start again, it'll take ten years but you can see the results in Beijing.

The shitness of the game was only overshadowed by the shitness of ITV's coverage. An advert break before kick off? Steve 'evil eyes' Ryder? Andy Townsend? FUCK OFF you muppets.

I know, how's about this for a great idea!? Let's pick the EXACT same team that failed to qualify for the Euros. What? That didn't work!? WELL FUCK ME

Yep..lessons learnt over the last 4 month? None. May as well start again it's not as if a newer squad would do any worse. Bently, Agbonlahor, Ashley Young - stick 'em all in.

Mind you even the decent performers, esp in defence looked shakey.

Well Sven qualified regularly and his sides weren't that different to this one IMO.

Good managers can make a difference surely.

I'm not saying we shouldn't try new blood by the way, the team is stagnant.

LOL what a bunch of overpaid tossers. I didn't know it was on either, and even if i had, i wouldn't have watched it. The Premier League is a stagnant, uncompetitive load of shite ruled by 3 teams with most of the money and the ability to buy the best players from every other team.

Really, why bother?

I long stopped watching anything but tournament matches.

Fwiw, I just looked at the team selected and thought I don't actualy like many of these . . . not that I know them of course but, unless it's me, the England team are such an unlikeable bunch. Don't recall feeling like that before.

you'd better get used to it - itv have all home england games for next three years, and the aways and friendlies are on setanta/sky. itv also have the fa cup now. no live footy on bbc anymore :(

ETA: we watched it on the net via some spanish channel with a really enthusiastic commentator ("gooooooooooooooooooooooooal" and all that) which made it slightly more palatable!
