I know that was just a friendly, but I really really hope Capello can stamp out those small mistakes like the concession of a free kick with seconds to go. . I hate it when England are winning a game and it's getting near the end, you just know the other team will equalise and it will all collapse, like in Euro 2004. We can do it in group games, but knockouts, we just don't quite have the mentality. Still, that's what Capello was hired to sort out so hopefully he's worked out a way to get us to win a major knockout game, of which we've only won one since 66 (I cound major knockout games as ties with any of the former WC winners, plus NL, Spain and Portugal). That being against Spain in 96 and jammy.

Bear in min that Engalnd has a popilation of 50 mil and has by far the most money going into footballl in the world. Slovenia, a poloulation of 2 mil. 4% the population of En-gar-land to choose from and far far far less millions of millions of £££££££££££££££££££££££££££.

Some victory. Oooh 2-1. Amazing.

England need a bit more of beating to realise they need to play as a team rather than ely on the overpaid, cheating, skill-less, and uninvesting (UK divisions take heed... UNINVESTING) twats that they are.

Then maybe we'll see them win on skill, rather than a fluke or a cheat.

So I hope Croatia do win. I have far more time for them.

See, this is what I hate especially. People who never follow, watch or comment on football, only watch it when it's an England game 'on telly' and suddenly become self-appointed 'experts' and assume that England should be beating Slovenia 7-0 and don't therefore they're 'crap'.

I can remember a game just after the 98 World Cup where France, the World Champions who everyone was wanking over, beat the mighty Andorra 1-0, and that was a last minute penalty.

It wasn't an amazing victory, who said it was? It was a friendly, England did okay, but it highlighted several areas in need of improvement.

I just don't like the predictable England bashing. Maybe as an England fan I'm guilty on occasion of looking at England through rose-tintred specs, but nI think your even more guilty of looking at the rest of the footballing world with rose-tinted specs.

I follow World football, not just internationals either and even putting my fandom aside I don't find anything particualry rephrehensible about the current England team and that's not to say their perfect.

My brother and mum are just like FLB when England play, as soon as the game starts they just go wargh england are terrible, based on zero normal football watching It's bloody annoying at times. those of us who watch football on a regular basis know that usually the biggest teams do have to work for results, proper thrashings are not the usual result.

My Mum's from Hungary. Hungary are even worse than EnGerLand. BUt then, they're a bunch of alcoholic smokers so they have a great excuse .

Although I did get pissed off with Captain Scarlett when Ferenc Varos whipped Man U 1-0 on a home game about 10 year ago. On the away game Captain Scarlett called them a "terrible team" when Man U whippped them back 4-0 not 10 years after the fall of the Iron Curtain. If they were so terrile they shud'n'ea won the first time.

The fact that they beat Man U was a fucking miracle and he should have been singing their praises even though they lost pretty badly on their away.

I lost all respect for English FA football and commentary then and there.

Re 1953. It's just over 10 years past 1966. Hungary used to be a fucking good team 1920s to 50's when the investmant ran out. But then. Who holds on to the past that long?

i would play lennon instead of wright-phillips personally. he has been in blinding from for the last few months, he deserves a shot, and there is no system change if he plays.

Wouldn't start defoe, this match is not the time to be changing things around. Think heskey's place is going to be coming under threat for the next game though even if its not defoe taking it.
