England V Northern Ireland

In football they say you are only as good as your last game. Last night England lost to the team currently ranked 116th in the world. Wales lost to the team currently ranked 24th in the world.

You do the math......

Proud as fuck me. HaHa!! :D

Glad I went to the pictures and missed this rubbish.

What the fuck are England doing? :(

Throwing away qualification for the world cup from what should be one of the easiest qualifying groups ever, by the looks of it.

Idiots.

After watching that and then the following programme on BBC2, I think I might follow Danny Wallace's example because being English was embarrassing last night.

That was the most inept England performance since we got tonked 2-0 by Norway under Graham Taylor.

One of England's supposed virtues is their hard work and passion .... it was woefully absent last night. They played like a bunch of cry-baby millionaires, outfought and outclassed in midfield and creating virtually no decent chances. Rooney should have been sent off; Lampard and Gerrard, allegedly world-class midfielders, were anonymous; Owen laboured up-front on his own without support; and don't even get me started on Sven's failure to change the formation and the approach when things were going so badly.

Congrats to Northern Ireland though .... I reckon Lawrie Sanchez will now get the freedom of Belfast, and deservedly so ....

My mood wasn't improved when I got it in the neck from my partner (from Bangor in Northern Ireland), her Mum and Dad and her brother (who was at the match and sang very rude songs down the phone to me from the pub afterwards).

Who would you suggest replaces him?! There is no english manager out there, and it's unbeliavable people are suggesting getting rid of him. It's the first qualifier we've lost under his management, and when we qualify (through winning the group, which I believe we will still do) then it will be seen as a mere blip on the record.

Just as an usual result for Wales against Italy doesnt make Wales a World Class team, neither a defeat against a determined N.I. team make England a bad team.

International footbal is getting alot more competitive, and for the better, there are very fewteams you can turn over easily. Little teams are now getting results against the big teams, even Liectenstein FFS.

Sven should have gone after the Euros, tonight should just be an excuse for the FA to drop the axe. Who would replace him? If we can't find an Englishman, find a better foreigner.

Doesn't coach.
Doesn't motivate.
Can be tactically out-thought by Lawrie Sanchez.

SACK HIM NOW.

Still reckon the Steve McClaren is running the England team

Anyway, Lampard still hasn't proven he's international class and neither has SWP

Ferdinand is becoming a joke and shockingly Beckham had a good game

Owen Hargreaves is shit. What could he bring to the team that Lampard couldn't, in those dying minutes?

Owen hargreeves is very shit ceratinly when he comes off the bench for enagland. decent enough back up to have in the squad but is definatly not a player to put on with a few minutes to go when your chasing a game. especilly replcaing lampard whop is the sort of player to have a long shot fly in the goal in the dieing seconds.

sven is a numpty and something needs doing either him being fired or at the very least a massive over haul in who is coaching and assisting him.

They will probably pick up a bit, get to the world cup and let us down with a dismal performance like they did at the last world cup and euro.

After the last two matches, I thought there were better ways of spending my Wednesday evening than watching England play shit football again.

I was right...

They'd probably insist they were Bratash.

Im sure there were a few fenians playing for NI. I think a lot of this bullshit about being Bratash only has currency among the more extreme elements of the NI (Linfield) faithful.

I would hardly call the performance at the last world cup dismal

Getting out of the hardest group, easily, in the competition, beating Denmark 3-0 and then losing narrowly to the winners

Euro 2004 was patchier though, I will concede, although the 4-2 with Croatia was a very good game.
