Not at all convinced by the idea of a gerrard-lampard-barry midfield 3.

I think we will revert to the same old same old dull performance.

Still, as 'they' say, 3 points are what matters and I'm sure we will beat them.. I expect the Kazakhs to play an English style game, if they're anything like the Uzbeks, who are very cross+header orientated.

Nah, after we grind out a 1-0 against the hard-working Kazakhs (no chance at all we will beat them even 3-0) people will be back to OTT whinging.

Fact is, OK we didn't qualify for 2008, yes we were crap in qualifying, but would still have qualified if we hadn't conceded the last goal against Croatia. And before that it was all quarter finals or thereabouts.

Read a quite good thing in the Grauniad today about how when the big teams play the small teams in qualifying, even though they usually win, they very rarely win by 4-0 or more. It's usually very close, 1-0 or 2-0... England aren't alone in this...

I just think we play better as a 4 4 2 with a big man up front, we should just go with the formation and pick players to suit it, we always seem to play shit when the formation is changed regardless of the players picked.

Also, in Asia a lot of people love our footballers.

When I was in China, I noticed that the people are very patriotic generally, but don't give two hoots about their team. A sort of reverse of us. Indeed, I reckon that many Chinese people would probably cheer for England if China were playing them, regardless of how pro China they usually were...

After euro 2004 there was a whole hour-long programme on CCTV5 where a Chinese guy who was a huge England fan talked through the games minute by minute and said we were certs to win in 2006...
