England tour of India

There is a the one dayers & a long summer of cricket before the winter Ashes tests & I fear burn out & injury to key players.

That's what happened before the series started in india, and indeed, during it. What we found out is that perhaps we have great strength in our squad.

Missing in last test: jones harmison and giles, trescothick vaughan and cook our replacement opener. They qualify as key players andy.

I think english cricket looks the best i've known it, and i've been following their fortunes since we were whitewashed by the windies back in the 70s.

In fact all in all we've had a fabulous series in india, with half our ashes team missing. To have done what we've done shows character, spine, quality, and plenty of skill. Good days ahead.

You Beauties  :D ;)

Well done England.....

Whilst not wishing to get too carried away the future looks a lot brighter than it did before the start of the series

Nice to see England striking a killer blow, Australian-style.

Maybe Flintoff should become full-time Captain sooner rather than later.

top performance! good to see utter ruthlessness in going in for the kill (lack of which IMO is an historic england failing).
Now ffs, TCCB, put the entire team in hibernation till spring. we can do without another injuries nightmare.

Ian Bell is a fucking amazing fielder...now he just needs to remember what a great batsman he is and get soem decent runs!!!! Great result all round :)

Actually I'd give him the ODI job straight away and drop Mick altogether. Flintoff is clearly the next in line now (I don't rate Marcus as a skip) and the more experience he can get in the job, the better. It was too heavy a burden for Beefy but Fred is thriving on it and performing superbly.

I don't think Vaughan's that bad a leader - he's just short of runs.

I'm glad Freddie proved the doubters wrong, though.

BTW, has anyone else heard that the stupid subs rule in ODIs is to be scrapped? It gives an unfair advantage to the team winning the toss. I'm glad of that, too.

Agreed. Fredddie should be vice-Captain from now on. His bowling has suffered a bit according to the stats, but his new patient batting style is a fantastic bonus.

I don't think he's a bad leader at all, in fact after Fleming he's probably the best skipper around and I'm not advocating getting rid of him for the test arena, just the ODIs. Hussain did a similar thing after the last World Cup, stepping down in the limited overs matches but remaining as test skip.

You might be right. What do you like about Fleming?

He and Vaughan have good temperaments.

Well he took the job at 23 and has been the most successful NZ skip in history, he always seems to be ahead of the game with his field placings, his team's record against Aus isn't too bad with the limitations at his disposal. He's not up there with the best ever like Brearley, Taylor, Illingworth, Lloyd et al but I have him the best at the mo.

If you reckon Mick is better fine, there ain't much in it to be honest.
