England tour of India

270 runs ahead now, what do we set them? Is one day enough or do we want to get them in against the (hopefully) moving ball in the evening?
They've not got enough. All the armchair captains will be declaring, but out on the field they'll need more than 400.

true enough, I just worry about one day not being enough to win as well as 300 not being enough to avoid defeat.

16 runs off the over, 15 to Pietersen. He's not hanging around at any rate.

Anil Kumble wasn't it?
Yep, good call.
The question is now how long do we bat in this innings? I think this is going to be a draw unless someone does something special. Here's hoping Panesar has a scorcher on the last day.

Without cheating, who has the lowest average of those bowlers who have taken more than 200 test wickets?

Can't do that one. I'd have a guess at Murali but it would be a guess.

ETA: And having cheated now, I'd be wrong.

16.43

only 189 wickets though

Cerberus So. Here goes another overnight prediction: India 350ish England 170 all out India to win early on sunday[/QUOTE said:
My overnight predictions - despite being well wide of the mark - are proving to be fairly good omens for England.

Therefore....tommorrow, England will declare overnight and India will (just) knock the runs off in time..

Oooh and Spurs will lose to Blackburn four nil ;)

England were 8/1 to win at the start of this match but I'm not sure if that was to win the series or just for this match.

I don't think Monty is getting the praise he deserves - 73 for 2 after bowling 42 overs with 19 maidens. Thats a fantastic performance.

On the other hand I fancy myself, batting using a hurley, against Blackwell. Some of the balls he bowled looked like they weren't going to reach the batsman, not to mind causing said batsman any trouble.

A draw then...

Oh well after the week England had before the start of this Test match...i think they can feel pretty pleased with themselves..

More positive's than negative's tho :)

Monty, Cook, Collingwood and Hoggy

Sounds like a pretty good last session...shame i don`t have access to Murdoch-vision

How is the next test going to go?

I can't help thinking it, but I don't think we can win. If we win the toss I think we'll have to bat first. I can't quite see an Indian test pitch and the overhead conditions being the first day seamers' paradise we get in England.

Surely Blackwell will make way for Udal, too.

India have just dropped Laxman and Kaif for tomorrow. That's a bold move and will leave quite a tail with Pathan at 7 possibly.

Quite optimistic as to our chances, as long as it isn't a bunsen.

Can't wait.

Also can't see us bowling them out twice; hope I'm wrong, natch, so imo it's down to whether our young inexperienced batting lineup can be patient enough.
Can only hope that it will stand them in good stead in oz next winter. (as well as in the summer.)

Bell looks good but then mis-read the googly, bowled shouldering arms the daft bugger.
Off for bad light and it looks like that could be it for the day, very dark there.

Sorry it is a bit off topic but what bastards they are taking it of normal tv. The whole country was watching the Ashes, now who gives a shit. I don't want to know about a sport that I can't watch anymore.
